Galaxian has made a crucial contribution to modern electronic music in the 21st century, de- constructing & turning it on it's head while making bold strides into unexplored territories. Often recognised as a pioneer & innovator, his inventiveness is only surpassed by his ability to mine consistently new seams of sound, rhythms and intricate arrangements. 

More than a decade of authoritative releases on world-class labels & counting Aphex Twin, Mary Anne Hobbs, Helena Hauff & DJ Stingray among admirers, the latter being sometime collaborators. Notable live & DJ sets played worldwide at Boiler Room, Dekmantel, Resident Advisor and key releases on Tresor, BPitch, Ilian Tape, Return to Disorder, Micron Audio and many others & featured in a number of BBC Essential Mixes, BBC Radio 1 + BBC Radio 6 Mary Anne Hobbs. 

Beginning his journey behind the decks long before stepping into production, DJ sets display a reflect a deep well of knowledge and experience. Stylistically mixing style is rooted in a classic old-school approach, completely contemporary in track choices, techniques and performance. Sets are tightly woven, dynamic, incendiary, evocative. 

With recent releases on BPitch and Herrensauna, Galaxian - along with his alter ego Naix - continues to reaffirm his reputation for crafting unconventional yet essential electronic music that resonates in the 21st century and beyond. 

With such an intense output of 5 albums in 3 years it was time to take a long earned rest and consider new sonic avenues, developing new ideas and adopting different sound palettes and production techniques. During this extended period there has been a lot of evolution and shift for the Galaxian and Naix sounds resulting in dozens of new tracks and a few albums worth of material. 

In 2025 Galaxian turned his attention to the sample library world, launching a new platform called Wavkore in late March 2025. Designed to give producers fresh creative possibilities, it offers access to his signature sounds, a curated artist series, and plenty more developments on the horizon.

From his base in the Helsinki underground, @soundsofkaspiann has forged a psychedelic techno sound rooted in DIY ethos and free from tempo constraints. Through his VALA label, live performances, custom soundsystem, and self-organised parties, he cultivates a holistic approach to club music — one aimed at total immersion and psychological surrender within dimly lit, physically resonant spaces. His sound bridges low-speed experiments and fast-paced meditations, echoing early influences from trance and psy while shaping a refined, contemporary identity since launching VALA in 2021. Balancing introspective textures with impactful club energy, Kaspiann channels the pulse of Helsinki’s clubs and the raw spirit of its underground. His live sets, shifting fluidly between ambient, downtempo, and deep techno, embody a versatile, hypnotic vision that values immersion and sonic exploration above all else.

Next up for BE Radio is Gamadon. Probably one of Ireland's most underrated DJs this man can play techno, electro, house, you name it, flawlessly all on vinyl (I've seen his record collection!)  From his early days supporting The Prodigy around Europe as a teenager to his the now more seasoned man, releasing killer records on his own label "Warehouse Manifesto", Gamadon is one of Ireland's most timeless electronic talents. Whilst this mix is a full-on techno & electro assault, I have heard this man transcending genres & decades, and he is in my top 5 Irish DJs of all time. Yuddy Ash joins as the seventy-first guest of the Set the Mood series. A producer and DJ based in Kyoto, Japan, his sound crafts a percussive, ritualistic take on techno, blending mysterious rhythms with subtle tension to evoke deep emotion. Driven by a profound connection to sound, his sets unfold as immersive journeys, where resonant frequencies align with the body’s pulse.

For Yuddy Ash, a perfect opening set is about creating space. That space serves as a doorway from the everyday to the extraordinary.

When shaping this mix, he envisioned a modest underground club, not too large, on a Friday night slowly turning into Saturday. It is a one-hour slot that begins exactly at midnight.

To him, techno is an aesthetic of repetition. He aims to create an inviting sense of openness, drawing people in with groove without overwhelming them too soon.

In his view, the DJ’s presence ideally remains anonymous, as the true protagonist is the music itself and the space it creates. Across the full sixty minutes, the set unfolds like a single track, guiding listeners into this shared space. It hints at the night’s direction, builds tension gradually, shapes the atmosphere, and always leaves room for curiosity.

Her Monument debut at Backsteinboot was loud, fearless, and beautifully unhinged — a peak-time charge that hit like a rotating flaming whip, all motion and fire.  A set that burned straight through the night. Her first time with Monument, and definitely not the last.
