Venice shrouded in a haze of electric reflections, canals stretching like lines of fate, masks on faces, and behind them – rhythms that govern the mind. Francesco Tamburrano (@ft-dubtechno) returns with The Gambler. Postscript I – a remix album. Since the original album was a musical reinterpretation of the novel The Gambler by Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, the continuation is conceptually shaped exclusively by Russian dub techno masters. They rewrote the album’s map like chess players maneuvering through time and space. Eight tracks, eight remixes, each crafted by Russian artists fluent in the dialects of shadow, echo, and spatial depth.

The album opens with “Alexei Ivanovich (Nebula Alchemists (@enercube and @x_fr) Intro)” – an atmospheric portal into introspection, a soft gamble of fate. “Madame de Cominges” is transformed twice: the Chain Selector (@chainselector) and Cossmann (@cossmann-music) remixes construct elegant labyrinths of tension and release, where every beat is a strategic move. “Polina Alexandrovna” unfolds in three interpretations: German F (@german_fed), Sergio Sincopa (@sergiosincopa), and Ekstendia (@ekstendia) reveal her melancholic charm and hidden shades, turning the track into a deep dive through layered textures and hypnotic pulses. “Marquis de Grieux (Oldschool_Dubtechno .Producer (@enercube and @x_fr) Flashback Mix)” vibrates with nostalgia and the rhythm of desire. “Mlle Blanche (BLOMAQ (@blomaq) Remix)” closes the cycle, leaving the listener suspended between light and shadow.

Each composition is alchemy: Francesco’s original vibrations blend with the Russian perspective on dub techno, creating an auditory space where time bends and sound becomes matter. The Gambler. Postscript I is not just a remix album – it’s a game with chaos, an exploration of structure, a descent into a hypnotic labyrinth. For [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB], this release is a symbol of dialogue, transformation, and fearless pursuit of the new. Enter the game anew: every remix is a roll of the dice, every texture a portal to the unknown, every sound a moment of revelation.

Iboga Series rolls on with Beat Bizarre aka Martin Spanner Zimmermann, who's joining us for a short chat and to present his newest album 'Perpetuum Mobile', also through a special mix following the interview.

When the first Beat Bizarre vinyl is released in 1999, it turns the established paradigm of Psychedelic Trance upside down: Powerful and impelling, yet at a moderate tempo. Minimal and repetitive, yet everything but monotonous. Catchy and with a high recognition factor, yet without any prominent melodies or hook lines. Dark and mysterious, yet funky and uplifting. Back then, the sound of the Danish project is the epitome of a movement that has just begun: Progressive Trance.

The sound of Beat Bizarre is embraced by the scene with such great enthusiasm because it features an entirely new approach towards psychedelic dance music. Instead of using the ecstatic melodies of classic Trance productions, its hypnotic power evolves from booming basses and tight percussions, from subliminal rhythmic buildups, and from a multitude of grinding and jangling sounds that merge into a perfectly sleek groove. When this formula finds expression on the album “Lewd” in 2001 it doesn’t take long before Beat Bizarre are invited to play at all relevant parties and festivals around the world. Among many successful tracks the “Brain Drain RMX” gains probably the biggest popularity, a true milestone of the Progressive Trance genre.

Originally Beat Bizarre starts as a duo, but in 2005 it becomes the solo project of Martin Spanner Zimmermann. Some might also remember his monumental “Liquid Structure”, the opening track of 2001’s VuuV Experience festival which he produced under the name Martian. His successful albums “MUHKARV” (2012) and “Riot” (2013) take the typical sound of Beat Bizarre to a contemporary level without giving away its organic soul. Operating from a studio full of analogue hardware, Martin is eager for action as ever before – so it surely won’t get boring for all the Trippy-Tech heads out there!

Following the success of Rist Istanbul, DJ KhaiKhan and Can Bener went on to found Majnoon. They now perform alongside musicians that play local and regional instruments. On “Benem,” MTU and Eren Erdoğan supply authentic vox and woodwinds, such as the Duduk.

2020 - 10 - 31 Do not talk just dance (zenon style)

This is the recording of a 2.5 hour set that I began playing shortly after the clock struck midnight on December 31st, 2020, and we all got to say good bye (and good riddance!) to the worst year of the 21st century. It was recorded at the music studio we have in the back yard of my home in Los Angeles, where my housemates and I celebrated the start of 2021 with about 10 close friends, dancing the night away. 

Here's to a better year for all my friends, family, and my fellow music listeners, lovers, and dancers.  Thankfully, I'm pretty positive it will be a better year, mainly due to the fact that tomorrow we finally get to say goodbye to the worst president in the history of the USA. After that, we can hopefully begin working to heal the damage he and his corrupt administration caused to this country, and the world. 

Happy 2021, everyone! And fuck you, Covid-19 and 2020!
