Paulo Almeida, front man for Dili Allstars, Sol Nation and Mystic Trio has embarked  on a solo project and is releasing his third single, ‘Stay A While’.

Staying true to his island roots, this new track sets a scene for lover’s reggae, vibing with lyrics sung in both English and Tetum (Timor Leste), Paulo’s native language. The song speaks to spending time with the people you love, creating lasting memories and forging deep connections, opening to the mystery of life, love and the other side.

In the words of the Natural Mystic, Bob Marley,

The first thing that struck me about this song was the absolute perfection of the music and the singing.

The vocals are crisp, they are clear and bright.

The accentuation is classic reggae, as is the beat.

The melody moves through the reggae structure, carrying the vocals with it.

There’s some great harmony here, both between the vocalists and with the vocalists and melody.

The song explains that the cassowary is seen as the protector of the North Queensland forests, the Daintree.

This is a Dreamtime story, which is widespread amongst the people of this area.

The song has English mixing with language to explain the story.

Djawarray uses very effective, seamless transitions between languages to tell this story.

This is an excellent piece, musically and culturally.

Chris Wilson has been an essential part of blues and rock music in Australia since taking the stage with the Sole Twisters almost 40 years ago. Stints with Harem Scarem and Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls followed and he formed his own band, Crown Of Thorns, in 1982.
