I do not own any copyrights on this track. This was simply done to test my skills on approaching a powerful mix from a song/band I love.

This is an attempt to get close to the guitar sound of Gojira in L'Enfant Sauvage album.
I started by messing around with the guitar sound and ended up mixing/mastering the result sample to approach their sound on the album.
I did not make any impulses based on their guitar tracks, just used free VST plugins with Red Wire impulses and addictive drums (no metal pack).

I'm sorry if anyone is disappointed by the result or my attempt, I thought it would be fun to test my skills on something that good.

Put together a set of guitar tracks x1 Left x1 Right and tried to use EQ just to do away with some major frequency bumps. Hope it sounds good.

This one was weird. No idea if this reminds me of an ENGL cab but I loved the punch of the tone.

TSE X50 demo version - ENGL kinda

Finally got to mixing again after a long time. This is an original composition in the style of Fear Factory although I feel like I've listened to a similar riff in the past...well nothing really fancy anyway. Still having a blast with the TSE x50, this time with SinMix IRs. No EQ or PRE/POST FX was used on the guitars appart from a HPF withing the plugin. Second part is guitars only. Hope you enjoy this.

Another attempt with the x50. This time more ISIS like stuff. Hope you like the outcome as I do. Very little EQ was used, mainly for some annoying mids and to remove a bit of the 4k/7k frequency.

Cryptic - Original - TSE x50 demo

I tried to use Ola Englund's settings from his 5150 on the TSE x50 with a guitarhack IR to get the guitar sound of Carcass from the album Heartwork. I really love the album and I think the result does the VST some justice. Had to tweak the settings a bit and mess with the BIAS setting but I think this comes really close. Drum machine is the MT power drum kit with some master EQ, reverb, and a bit of tube warmth.

-VST: TSE x50 mkII (demo version)
-Tube: 6L6 no mk2 mod used
-IR: Guitarhack 666v4
-EQ: Identical to the settings from Ola's video but with more treble and presence and a bit of post sizzle with a small cut at 6.7K (depends on DI and pickups)
-Boost: Used the green tube screamer, drive in the middle, tone at 11 o'clock and volume at 3 o'clock.
-Single tracked for both channels

Carcass guitar sound from Heartwork - TSE x50 - Buried Dreams

My 2nd attempt to emulate the sound from Carcass in the album Heartwork. This time to also show the lead sound coming out from the TSE x50 beast. Settings are the same as in my previous upload but with a touch of more tone on the TS and an additional small cut at about 5k.

I read that The Haunted used a 5150 with a Marshall cab on Revolver. Gave it at try with the TSE x50 using the FCL Boogieman (Mesa) IR. Sad that I couldn't get closer to the tone, probably because of the missing high end from my input signal. With a better DI and some tweeking one could get even better results. Overall, lots of bass and highs, very low mids with a boost for clarity. Settings are as follows.

-VST: TSE x50 mkII (demo version)
-Tube: 6L6 no mk2 mod used
-IR: FCL-Boogieman
-EQ: Bass-6, Mid-1, Treble-9, Low End-6, Presence-8
-Boost: Pandora with the lows boosted at 3 o' clock highs reduced to 10 o' clock and symmetry at 11 o' clock.
-Some EQ cuts at 500hz, 900hz, and 4.9Khz. Used a low pass filter at about 15k.
-Single tracked for both channels. The Haunted probably used dual tracking which could make the result even better.

Again, settings may vary depending on the pickups, DI, preamps etc.

The Haunted guitar sound - Revolver album - TSE x50

I tried NTS vs Archetype vs Nameless a couple of times. I just cannot resist the depth and richness of the NTS. This is an original composition unfinished as always but one should get the idea. I love it. There is just a slight EQ curve to tame the low end and some mids and 800Hz but overall I kept the sound as natural as it could be. Drums are from the MT power kit.

John Memos (Original) - Descend in fast forward - Neural DSP NTS

I tried using Nolly Archetype from Neural DSP on this idea. DI is the same as the one in my NTS track. Overall great results with amp 3 panned hard right and amp 4 panned hard left. EQ was used only inside the plugin so no other post processing.
