Voyage is a love song and a song of emigration, a song of leaving Ireland and coming to Australia.
Voyage is about a young man leaving Ireland for Australia in the 1950s as a 10-pound pom following his sweetheart. The song pictures him standing at the ship's rail looking out to sea, longing for his sweetheart, and becoming a man.
Many Australians have left their homelands for a better life here, leaving family behind.

Sullie is a Sydney based Singer-songwriter. Yesterday is an indie ballad, with a chill, romantic vibe but with a twist of sadness and melancholy. The song describes the feelings and confusion from the perspective of a person whose lover has just left them.
The song was recorded produced and mixed by Sullie in his home studios in Ireland and Australia with mastering by Landr.

Yesterday

How long must the bombs rain down, it's a simple question that all who think it's acceptable to bomb innocents need to be asked? Written initially when Israel was bombing Palestinian children in their schools, I finished the song this year when the Russians started killing Ukrainian Children.

To War is a song I wrote in 2017 following a trip to Albany in Western Australia for Anzac weekend 26th of April. Albany is the port in Western Australia where the ANZAC forces left Australia and sailed to fight in World War 1. WW1 was Australia’s first War following federation in 1901 The first battle at Gallipoli was a disaster for the ANZAC forces. 

While we were in Albany, we visited the National Anzac Centre. It is a fantastic Museum and tells the very bleak story of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in World War 1. It was also Anzac Day, a national holiday in Australia. Australians attend dawn services all over the country to honour their servicemen and women and the people that have sacrificed their lives for Australia.

Australians bring their children along to these very solemn ceremonies. I got the image of a parent holding their child’s hand standing in front of the flag from these ceremonies. 

At the time, Donald Trump was the US President and had created all sorts of havoc on the international stage. I feared that he would start a war that would drag Australia into it and in time those children at the ceremony would be serving in combat zones around the world. 

It has not happened yet, but any day some world leader can carry his sabre rattling too far. With any war, somebody’s children will die.

To War

Sullies’ songs are about leaving, love, loss, and broken hearts. Songs and stories with a twist of protest, awareness of environmental issues and calls for social justice.

Sullie is a singer-songwriter who plays across multiple genres. His songs range from sensitive folk acoustic ballads to punk rock songs and all points in between.

Sometime in the mid-80s in a small town in the west of Ireland with dreams of being the next U2 Sullie started his first band with nothing more than a beat-up acoustic guitar and thick cardboard tube and an orange faux leather couch for a drum kit. 

Sullie has played music ever since as a solo artist, in a band, or in traditional Irish folk sessions. 

Sullie is a multi-instrumentalist whose primary instrument is the guitar. He is a lead vocalist and sings a wide range of musical styles. Sullie also plays the bass guitar, with a little bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, and tin whistle. 

Sullie has appeared with the late Henry McCullough (Joe Cocker Band & Wings), supported Tommy Emmanuel. Sullie has played in Irish music sessions with some of Ireland top traditional and folk players, Johnny Moynihan, (Sweeneys Men, Planxty, De Dannan, Fleah Cowboys) Clive Collins (Fiddle on Christy Moore – Prosperous 1972) and Vinnie Kilduff (In Tua Nua) as well as Australian sessions with artists such as Shane Howard (Goanna).

Sullie has recorded in Temple Lane Studios in Dublin and in New York with three-time Emmy Award-winning composer Tom Spahn 

In 2008 he wrote Tears of the Goddess for the Save Tara protesters fundraising campaign, a collaboration of international artists and appeared on Balcony TV Dublin. 

After moving to Australia in 2012 Sullie has performed across Western Australia as a solo artist, in sessions and with various bands and groups. Sullie founded the Kalgoorlie Traditional Music Session group, a community-based group for Irish Traditional and folk music in regional WA.

Currently based in Sydney Australia Sullie is well known on the folk scene in New South Wales. He performs solo as Sullie (Original Songs) and with The Full Irish, (Irish Trad, Folk). 

Following several festival appearances around NSW in 2019, great things were on the horizon for 2020. COVID 19 put an end to that with virtually all gigs and festivals cancelled in 2020. 



Sullie records and produces his music in his home studio. Sullie has self-released several tracks and has several releases planned for 2021. In early 2021 his song To War is being released by Music for World Peace Records.
