Story
The Lightning Bird
On the plains where thunder rumbles and the skies are torn apart by lightning, the ancestors of Zimbabwe told the story of a mystical bird: the Lightning Bird.

The Birth of the Myth
It was said that the bird was not born from the earth, but from the collision of two ancient storms. Its wings were as black as night, but each feather flashed with electric light. When it swept through the air, the skies lit up and the rivers swelled with fury.

Guardian of Warriors
The Lightning Bird was neither common enemy nor ally... it was the judge of fate.

• To brave warriors, it granted strength and vision in battle.

• To cowards, it brought the lightning that shattered their spears and darkened their path.

The elders said that, before every war, the chiefs listened to the heavens. If lightning traced the bird's silhouette, it was a sign that spirits accompanied the warriors.

The Pact of Blood and Thunder
A young warrior named Muzinda challenged the bird, asking for its power to free his people from invaders. The Lightning Bird descended in the midst of a storm and spoke to him in a voice of thunder... “Your courage will be tested. If you fight with justice, my lightning will be your shield. If your heart is corrupted, you will be consumed by my fire.”

Muzinda accepted, and in the battle the heavens opened... each blow of his spear flashed like lightning, and the enemies fled in terror.
