Spent one summer night in Nashville 
two days on music row 
played an open mic on main street 
near my one bed cheap motel 

Passed a church yard where some singer 
Was asking God the way to hell 
Later,… I saw him sleeping 
On his moonlit-bench … hotel 

Heard some people … tell me Nashville 
Just wouldn’t take to what I wrote 
When I took the bus that brought me there 
With my dreams and all my hopes 
It was just one night in Nashville 
Two days on music row 
If I’d have stayed a week, a month, a year
