Nocturna is a new project by Andrea Cassino and Danny Lloyd from Tuscany in Italy - A region synonymous with quality underground house techno for many years, Dj's like Francesco Farfa and Alex Neri rose to fame, with clubs like Tenax striving the way forward delivering quality underground line ups week after week, and this is where Andrea and Danny learnt their craft and made good friends with these DJ legends. 

And so to Big Bang we begin, and its an infectious deep layered gem that oozes out from the off, locking you in to its magical groove as the percussion develops and synth stabs intersperse with the rising arpeggiator and subtle pads, your mind is lost inside the chasm of sound before you are gently eased into the sub-bass lined dreamy drop that induces smiles at an instant. 

Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile are first up on remix duties, and the talented trio strip the vibe right back, with its deep tension creating mood with hints of the melodics subtly infused as we meander effortlessly through the mesmerising odyssey. This excellent remix firmly proves this superb production outfits rich and diverse musical tapestry. 

Next up is Sudbeat label manager Graziano Raffa, a rising name in the underground scene, and who's recent collaboration with Lonya is doing the damage right now. His remix flows with class from the instant it starts, encapsulating a wealth of harmonics peppered throughout, creating a timeless bubbler that will seriously do some damage. 

And if they weren't enough, another original track Microcosmos closes the package, a sprightly voyage, deep yet uplifting, with chiming and tinkling sounds meeting a big low end and warm pads laying a smooth blanket of warmth on top to keep you cosy.

It's a scratch he needed to itch and 14 years later, he's made it happen.

Never one to be pigeon holed in just one genre, you find here a wide selection of music, 'Spirit awakening' being testament to the much loved deeper side of John, whilst 'This restless planet' takes things on a euphoric Trancy journey. To hammer on the icing of the cake, we take a hard hitting ride with 'The long ranger' 134 BPM of Tech Trance with tons of emotion.

Rather than labour on predictably about the symbolic significance of a collaboration between these two Artists - both intrinsically important to the evolution and resurgence of modern trance, let's just discuss the music. Hemispheres digs deep - subwoofer-rattling deep. The arrangement ploughs the furrows of hypnotic, immersive club music; filters radiate, expand & contract; shards of rhythm shatter and re-assemble. Most importantly, the melody possesses a claw-like hook which buries itself under the skin throughout this 11 minute odyssey.

Entitled ‘Pukwudgie’, once again it’s oceanic in its sense of depth and scale. Rippling, warm, full of surprises, just on the right side of trippy and hypnotic and ultimately timeless, ‘Pukwudgie’ captivates, and is as rich as the folklore that inspired the title. The same can be said for the remixes; Italian stallion Gai Barone tessellates the patterns with an epic nine minute odyssey that’s drenched in a soaking wet bassline and offers more twists than a plate of spaghetti while Barry Jamieson dives to even deeper depths with a ten minute opus that breaks down into the realms of delicate classic piano before gradually building up again. His years behind the scenes working with Sasha and Charlie May shining through his deft grasp of restraint and subtlety, he brings this pivotal release to a fitting and poignant end. Time to spread the word.
