The title, 12 Years 1.5 C refers to the international scientific consensus about humanity’s approximate window for achieving deep cuts in global greenhouse gas emissions and avoiding warming of greater than 1.5° C. If we stay below this limit, the thinking goes, we can avoid the more catastrophic consequences of climate change. Though the song features the ticking of clock and the buzz of a rattlesnake, it’s overall mood is upbeat. Optimism is crucial to solving the climate crisis! The only lyric is “12 years”, spoken in 12 languages.
