Comments:  On a friends birthday (Sunday / 6-5-05 / in the summertime) the news reported "golf ball" size hail and tornado warnings. After the storm had passed one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever witnessed appeared.

After I took the pictures with my camera it never turned out. the sunset was invisible. it's been over 2 years since I hosted my last dj mix (Monday blues) and somehow this sunset was so compelling it turned into the root behind this mix.

Also, finally sorting through 3-4 computers and 2 - 3 hard drives, and slowing down a bit, from the technology blunders of the past 8-10 months; having some fun, and putting some older mixes back online.

["For some time I have been more and more dissappointed with the developement of contemporary minimal techno music. It's not because I thought I needed to follow some trend that says, you should play more house now. It's been more of a natural developement that made me more and more bored by the music released under this category. But I do love minimal techno! I've been fascinated with the concept of minimalism in electronic dance music since I was 14 and started bying my first records (actually my very first record is featured in this mix).
To find out exactly what was bothering me with it now I took quite some time exploring my own record collection and looking for the music I believe represented best what I considered "minimal techno". After hearing Ricardo's version and the positive feeling I got from it, I decided to finally make a rework of a track I was dear of. I truly should do this more often. I had a lot of fun. Perhaps it's just the specific timing in my life, or the idea of caring a lot less about a lot of certain things, and just getting back to having fun, and creating in the studio.  This makes me happy from the inside. I thought I'd share. More new music coming shortly. No more waiting 5 years to pull things off old hard drives. - If you would be so kind to please pass this forward.

John Clees - Detroit Acid Rework : Ricardo Villalobos - Everywhere You Go Remix

The balance of funk, soul, passion, creativity, and desire was captured from an early age. 

When John was six or seven years old, he would listen to "The Electrifying Mojo" on 97.9 FM in the early 80’s after being tucked away for bed.  
Listening even as late as 2-3 AM, rolling his head back and forth, waving his hands in the air, pretending to play the drums; he heard different styles, frequencies, and artistic forms of electronic music. 

While often hearing the piano and organ growing up, John felt in love with the vibration tones of the lower bass foot pedals; being barely tall enough to turn on the organ, being mesmerized by the drum patterns of the organ, it was actually the foot pedals, which were at his disposal, and immediately became the core of what he could reach and was drawn to.

As the years continued, John went on to tour in Moscow with one of his hottest live performances to date. John is constantly perfecting his sound and has gone back into seclusion, putting his productions first once more. Releasing "Lost Tracks" on his label that have been buried for years, but also on an entirely new path and journey, he will finally be sharing new material once again will the world very soon. 

A new live pa is on the horizon for Detroit very soon.
Stay tuned in as we move into another year of exploration.
