Here's a home demo I did for Coyote Thompson. I hope to fill this out with 'real' musicians, but this gives you a fair idea of the song.

Coyote Thomson was a man, 
Badly in need of a plan 
All the way from Ohio, 
He came to make a stand 
But he just cooled his feet in the sand 

He struggled long, but soon turned to drink 
And within that sand he began to sink 
turned down, turned around
he was on the brink 
And robbed a liquor store before he could think

Not the type, he was once on top
taking chances like a shot 
but restless nerves, and fanciful dreams
lured him like a plot 
and later that same evening he was caught 

Coyote tried not to get mean, 
among the crowd in their county jeans, 
he tried to remember  
Once there was a lovely dream 
with blue Ohio skies and grassy greens 

In thirteen months he was back on the street, 
and with $50 he went out to eat
and the waitress with blond hair
Thought his smile was sweet 
and agreed that later - they could meet 

And in her blue eyes he found the sea 
and found the man he was waiting to be 
and she knew he was a good man, just wanting to be free 
as they lay together in talking up life’s mystery

On a cool and misty morning, 
On a back road, without warning, 
The engine died with a shutter, 
And the TR refused to start. 

And after investigation, 
I coasted to the station, 
And asked the kid behind the counter
Where I could find a part.

He pointed through the door, 
To a man in twilight, on the floor
In faded blue coveralls 
Underneath on an old red Ford

But before my explanation
He knew the situation
And reached for the part I needed
Without saying a word.

Through my state of wonder

How he knew the answer

With no hesitation -

I've been waiting all year for this epic swell 
So how long I'll be out I just can't tell  
I never bring a watch, 'cause I don't wanna know 
and if it keeps getting better, I just can't go 
My girlfriend is pissed, and I'll probably get fired

All the surfers have gone home, leaving just me behind
When I saw a 20 footer, lining up outside
I paddled into position, and just let my board slide
When the lifeguard revived me, I pulled him to my side

Ride West

San Diego based producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist John Wolfe Compton (me) blends folk, country, blues and rock into a comfortable musical blanket, worth wrapping yourself in, on a cool, autumnal evening. I would also include a warm beverage or craft brew. Frankie Dog (or Frankie Florencia Compton) came into our lives when my wife and I adopted her in the spring of 2019. She was just a tiny pup and seemed really confused at that moment. I soon found myself walking with Frankie and singing short verses about her quirks, adventures, or just how much she meant to us. Those tidbits soon became full songs, which I promptly recorded - mostly to impress my 7 year old nieces, as they were also mildly infatuated with Frankie. 'These are the Songs that Frankie Knows' was soon released, and after forced listening it received positive reviews from family and friends. I don't think anyone else has heard it, except for maybe you. And if you have read this far then you have read further than just about anybody but me, and that makes us nearly great friends. Anyway, it seems other people have dogs and stinky dogs, and also love their dogs, etc. so if you have a dog or love dogs or just like songs about dogs, please enjoy!
