John Dalagelis (Promo Mixes)

With a collaborative history that dates back to the mid 00s, Dieb Audio bossman John Dalagelis and Bedrock regular Stelios Vassiloudis link up once again for a crucial three track debut session on the eminent Ovum.

‘Binary’ sets the code with a fantastic sense of foreboding. Tense low end whirs and hums, sudden thunderclap percussion, pneumatic kicks and a general sensation you’re floating dangerously out of orbit… They don’t just set the scene but rather demolish everything your dance floor has known before and build an entire universe in its place.

It’s a universe that’s home to two more towering and vitally diverse constructions… The punchy Detroitian funk of ‘Coast To Coast’ and the laid back broken beat vibes of ‘Niko’s Apartment’. The former takes the tempo up a notch while the bass wraps around the kicks and glacial synth ripples for an infectiously bouncy groove. The latter, meanwhile, takes the tempo down a notch for a vibe that’s as breezy and evocative as the title track is dark. Perfect for all things sunrise and sunset, it brings the whole EP together with its easy rolling charm.

Strong contrasts but an even stronger consistency in weight, focus and groove craft. There’s a reason John and Stel have worked successfully before… Let’s hope they do it again soon.

Russ Gabriel - Aoyama (John Dalagelis Remix) - Dieb Audio

We are delighted to present what we feel to be another outstanding addition to our catalog. Dieb Audio honcho and studio rat John Dalagelis has teamed up and joined creative forces with Fog & Kindimmer. Fog has had regular releases the past few years on labels such as Plastic City, Metroline Limited, Brise Records and Apparel Music. Berlin based Kindimmer has been getting a lot of attention lately with his productions and his dj sets around Europe. The result of these three getting together is an intricate, intelligent, cutting edge "Ruff Elements EP" including 4 top quality tracks.

Starting with "Dance Around", we come across a deep yet very powerful tech house track which is dominated by a groovy drum arrangement, swinging shakers, carefully placed percussive elements, chord stabs and pads which give to the track a unique atmosphere.

On "Dusty" we find the producers exploring a more raw percussive jackin house territory, using shakers, various interesting timbres and textures to create a hypnotic yet groovy vibe. Blending this vibe with some nifty chordal stabs and the a side of the EP completes perfectly.

On the flip side "Soulchords" takes its turn. A solid rhythm arrangement with some effective drum patterns and a driving bass line but the highlight comes in the form of a moving chord that rips through the core of the track. Solid, precise and guaranteed to work great on a variety of dance floors.

Completing the package with style and panache, we have "Soulstrings". A melodic deep house track which is focusing on the analog bass line, the melodic chords, the chunky drum rhythm, the moody pads and the vocal samples that give the track a nice old school house music feeling.

Whatever your preference, "Ruff Elements Ep" is sure to satisfy even the most discerning ear or demanding crowd. Enjoy!

'White Cells' is the second release in the lead up to Stelios Vassiloudis' forthcoming album, All Else Fails. After a deep dive in a folder filled with countless remedied loops and jams, Stelios wanted to make space for some broken beat, intelligent electronica on the album. With a funky 5/4 groove 'White Cells' came to life, punctuated with a flurry of wavering synths and bells. The release is accompanied by contrasting remixes from Tokyo based Yui Onodera and the Berlin based John Dalagelis.

John Dalagelis - Spring 2020 Promo Mix

John Dalagelis is a multifaceted artist, music producer, DJ, sound engineer and entrepreneur with a long and admirable history within the electronic music scene. Whether traveling the globe as a respected and in demand DJ or meticulously tweaking and polishing productions at his Dalasounds studio, John’s work ethic, attention to detail and consistency have earned him a well deserved reputation for quality. 

Born in the U.S.A. and raised in Greece, John originally burst into the spotlight during the early '90s. His unparalleled enthusiasm and love for music as a youngster while DJing at underground parties, hosting his own radio shows, scratching and standing out at the national DMC championship and supporting Orbital on their first tour of Greece, would set the firmest of foundations for his future development and endeavors.

In a whirlwind production career, either solo or along with his brother Nick, as well as under various aliases and collaborations, John has produced for a diverse number of respected labels since the beginning of the '00s. Through the years, his sound has shifted, progressed and developed into a mature and sophisticated brand of electronic music, spanning from techno infused house, break beat, dub, electronica, experimental and all points in between.

On the DJ front, John has been eager to take the opportunities his profile affords him and spread his sounds to venues the world over. Apart from being active in Berlin where he is based as well as in his native Greece and the U.S.A., John has traveled around the globe to locations as diverse as Australia, Mexico, Colombia, Romania and Lebanon to name a few. His exemplary technique, careful track selection and unique aesthetic have been honed and informed by his true passion and total immersion in electronic music. John effortlessly transmits this energy and quality wherever he performs at, whether it be a large scale open air festival or an intimate, underground club. 

As a formally educated, degree certified in Sound Engineering and in Recording Arts, John is also extremely active in his studio. His list of clients and past projects as a producer, mixing and/or mastering engineer is nothing short of impressive, having worked on numerous singles/EPs, artist albums and mixed compilations during the past 15 years. His coveted production, mixing and mastering skills have made him the go to choice for several key artists and record labels in electronic music, who all sing his praises and intuitively trust his keen ears and seasoned production values.

John is the personification of the modern artist and can only be described as hard working, humble, skillful, involved and passionate. While hitting the international circuit with gigs around the globe, he continues to hone his craft meticulously, develop as an artist and manage to maintain his relevance in a continuously evolving scene.
