This is what I was doing on 9th St. in Gowanus.   Microkorg and huge bass keyboard amp were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy.  I love the fatness of the sound.  I am practicing making my own mixes.  Not even messing with Mastering yet.  I have a lot of these loops that I need to get out.  Who's interested in a weekly loop from yours truly?

KIKEH MATO - I could say a lot about Mandjou Mara and Kikeh Mato.. I met Mandjou when he first arrived in America to the frigid winter of Wisconsin.  I had the privilege of assembling a band to perform his music from Guinea.  He had these cassette tapes with demos on them so we transcribed them and produced a CD!  Then we brought the CD to Africa and danced to it in the clubs.  It was dope.  Mandjou is very representative of all the things I love about African culture.  He is simultaneously elegant and passionate, an amazing host, and knows how to take things slow.  The band is Richard Hildner on Guitar, Ben Hoffmann on Piano, Matt Rogers on Bass, Mandjou singing and playing djembe, and yours truly on drums and shekere and organizing the whole damn project.
