Patrick Russell is a true veteran of the underground, perhaps one of the last unsung heroes of a now lost era in the Midwest. He magically transforms the diaspora of pure jack energy into a fluent sonic dialog that never fails to devastate both minds and dance floor. 

A Detroit-bred DJ, artist and producer since the early 90's, Patrick has now made Brooklyn his home. His lengthy resume includes such highlights as an exclusive 2007 set with Jeff Mills in Detroit, performing at the 2001 & 2008 DEMF/Movement festivals in Detroit, more recent appearances at Boiler Room, Unsound, and BEMF in New York, to being a key figure in the now legendary No Way Back parties. In addition, he has been steadily building a strong catalog of high-profile remixes to compliment his increasingly varied and in-demand DJ sets.

His consummate taste and ecstatic yet disciplined execution have created a respect that cannot be purchased. Patrick is not just one to watch, he is one to be experienced.

Wata Igarashi - Ciphers EP

Midgar is very happy to deliver a new release by Wata Igarashi!!! Anticipated since few weeks already, with the two bonus digital tracks ´Mantle´ and ´Displacement´ (both available for free download via Resident Advisor/WeTransfer http://tinyurl.com/mantle-displacement), Ciphers EP is a rich assemblage of deep sonic excursions showing throughout a strong coexistence of organic and virtual elements. The record opens with ´Ciphers´, where a fast paced sandy groove is driving high on drones via sparking ambiances. Second track, ´Hailstones´ is basically a beat knocking its way outside, under a heavy hi-hat hail, slashed by snares and haunted by holographic spirits. On the B-side ´Lucifero´ carries a mellow but powerful mood, sounds like a morning star that gradually transforms into a supernova, is definitely the more dancefloor oriented cut of the release. Closing the vinyl, the slow-footed ´Cocytus´ is the complete opposite of its previous track, because of a cold, grave rhythm, treated like a windswept tree. Finally, the only digital tracks, ´Mantle´ and ´Displacement´ are perfectly resuming Wata Igarashi sound signature, as trippy gatherings of crafted beats joining drones and deformed soundscapes, the first is mind stressing and epic at certain stages, while the second vibrates so dreamy as it´s made of percussions and supernatural blows.

second various artists ep with few selections of personal favorite old (and new) artists discovered. really eclectic and fine sounding idm, electro and braindance from robyrt hecht & xy0815, tysk raider, omni causa, nachtzug, retape and j. wiltshire.

for the beginning of a few inner (east) german collabos we're proud to work with robyrt hecht & xy0815 from leipzig.. they deliver a common work as a result of a late summer session. it was the first transmission and it nailed our idea of electro with a brainy twist right away.
tysk raider is one favorite this year as well and his track is an outtake of the tracks he sent us, a split ep with his tunes on one and lithium flux on the other side, will appear march '18.
robbyrt hecht's brother norman is also a musician and with his friend stephan he forms nachtzug, they will appear on an album on mindcolormusic this year's summer, these are recorded sessions developed through love of music and routined jamming with friends for ages. they know what they do and still learn it again at each stage.
also first feature on micomu for retape and j.wiltshire. as fans of electro with nerdy idm / braindance touch you can't fault on these two, super hexagon from jacob is a constantly growing platform for his works as well as collabs with alma construct for example.
retape has been quiet for a few years you might think but if you follow him on sc you'd see he's as productive as always, creating pure and direct, super versatile jam trax that always fixate his idea of music to a different level.
this is an outtake of his last ep he self-released on bandcamp.

Zurkin is a dj and a professional dog walker from Tbilisi, Georgia. 
He is a co-founder of Vodkast Records – a record shop, label and podcast based in Tbilisi. Zurkin has been playing for more than 10 years at all clubs of Tbilisi’s rising electronic music scene. He is also one of the founders of community ‘11th’ – a musical school and platform for young artists.

We first had the pleasure of hearing Zurkin play when Uzuri founder , Lakuti first played in Tbilisi back in 2015 . Lakuti since played a few times after that in the city with Zurkin with 2017 being the highlight , where Zurkin delivered 1 of the best opening set Lakuti has ever experienced . The party was literally shook to the rafters by the time Lakuti & Tama Sumo took the reigns without Zurkin ever pumping it out .
