Here's my only other set at Kiwiburn 2023 that I managed to get recorded. It was a fun and fairly spontaneous one because someone dropped out, and it was the second set I played that Friday after an organica/downtempo set with alien planet vibes at Paradox earlier in the evening. It was raining pretty hard and the sheltered dome of Swing Fling (the theme camp I was with) was a popular spot for people to gather and dance. Such a fun night, starting with the signature Swing Fling Cabaret full of amazing performances by talented and multifaceted humans!

Picking up from the high energy sets of Those Who Love, @benthamism, @TomCosm and @bigsquishy I started with high energy melodic house and techno. To give people on the dancefloor a breather I gradually transitioned to more chill vibes throughout the set. And then about two thirds of the way through I decided to surprise everyone and drop in about 20 BPM into proper downtempo - my little experiment was better received than I thought and it was a beacon for other lovers of slower house. I was so stoked too that @libby_k (who was on after me) felt called to continue the downtempo grooves during her set - make sure to check it out on her soundcloud, too!

Much love to Swing Fling for having me and all the amazing and beautiful humans who shared the sheltered space under the dome that night!

I lost my darling one month ago today on the eve at the end of this Darling themed Splore. He was best friend, my lover, my partner in crime, my adventure buddy, and my number one fan.  
It's still so incredibly hard to believe he is gone.. 
I am so very thankful we got to spend such a beautiful and magical last weekend together doing what we loved with all our Lucky Star friends at Splore.  

This set was inspired by the theme and therefore Simon too.. I haven't played electro swing in years but had included some in this mix as it was the genre we bonded over when we first met in 2012.. This mix has now become more potent than ever.. 

We were both so excited that I got to play before international producer and DJ Franca B2B Madmotormiquel.. I've discovered Franca has very similar taste in music to me so she has become an absolute favorite of mine.  Seeing her and Madmotormiguel play on the Saturday eve was a highlight of the weekend for us both. You can hear Franca mixing into my last track at the end so I kept it on the recording..

Vataff Project has an eclectic experimental sound all his own drawing from elements of ambient, ethno, psychedelic & techno.. all the while mixing electronic beat with traditional Bulgarian and worldwide instruments. His studio is set in the Rodopa mountains in Bulgaria, a place of great spiritual power and home to the legends of Orpheus and a country with a deep mysterious power. The end result bringing profound feelings of ecstasy, dance and ritual which come from the heart, the ancient times, the present and the future.
