Depth, a cool lick, a big vocal, and a cool dance beat.

Dare is a song about loving someone who is not good for you. Someone who messes with your mind, body and soul, someone who manipulates and is wonderful one minute and calling you a total train wreck the next. The Dare part? Is a dare to leave, a dare to be alone.

Dare is my song journey that has unfolded over 20 years. It was written, recorded in the early 2000’s as a doof doof dance track with that 90’s flair (sigh – think, Kylie Minogue, I Should Be So Lucky – no you can’t have a copy). It was never my favourite tune. But…. 20 years later, Dare has had a major facelift, a total re-write and now that I am a budding producer, I took over the arrangement. This version is the one that not only reflects exactly how I wanted it to sound in the first place – but better. This is the version that resonates with me, and I hope it resonates with you!

Dare

A song about a man who went on a trip, failed to come home for 15 months, then pretended like nothing had happened.

The song is about deepest darkest secrets that we keep from each other so "Tell me tell me are there secrets that you keep that you never told a soul you don't want anyone to know tell me tell me"

Tell Me

The John Lister Project creates original rock music in the style of classic hard rock and prog rock, with the emphasis on guitars and the Hammond organ.  He performs each instrument, composes, arranges and produces each mastered track, resulting in quality music that is very listenable, geared to the older generation that loved the hard rock era of the seventies.
