This is an acousmatic piece based on timbral morphing throughout gestures on a micro and macro level.

This piece was composed using recorded audio from a variety of Percy Grainger's work. It is intended to embody the ideal of "free music" that Grainger aspired to achieve.

Black Moby’s Evening Love Levee is a medley rework of five Led
Zeppelin songs (When the Levee Breaks, Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love, In The
Evening, Moby Dick). Composed in a “plunderphonics” style, all of the source
material comes directly from the original songs. Though plunderphonic works
typically parody popular music, this piece focuses on accurately exaggerating
distinct features of Led Zeppelin’s music.

Real Music, Real Stories - Composer Reel Fall 2018

John Meek is a composer/sound designer/engineer based in San Francisco. John graduated from the music technology program at Northeastern University in Boston in 2012 and has since continued to develop his music career with focus on composition for media and electronic music production. 

While studying music in Boston John was exposed to more academic styles of music including electroacoustic and acousmatic music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acousmatic_music) that profoundly changed his view on the matter. These new ways of thinking about music inspired John to explore the boundaries of functional music and majorly influence his work today. 

It is John's vision to compose music for media and other art related projects that departs from traditional musical models while remaining functional.  

John is available for composition work, music editing, mixing, sound design, and private tutoring.
