A Thursday night in Wellington, NZ, circa 2001 Derrick Carter touched down for the Boompty Boomp tour and tore the fucking roof off Studionine from 3am until nearly 9:30am!!!

A friend of mine moved to Auckland a few years later and randomly met the guys who managed the tour and he told them how much I raved about the gig, they gave him a 4 CD set to give to me!!!

20 years on, I've decide it's time for this to be available online!

About the CD:
002 of the Classic Mix CD Series and yet another absolute stand out classic. After getting into house at around 15, I guess my only source of info was Danny Rampling's seminal LGDP (Love Groove Dance Party) Saturday nights on Radio 1. However I can't remember Carter getting much coverage on there, yet he, much like Danny Tenaglia seemed to have a level of legend unlike most. This CD cemented my love of house music with an all might smash in the face. The tempo, the bass, the disco, the filters, and fucked up vocals... this was heavyweight. Nothing could compete at the time. I'll always remember driving to college with my 2 nerdy class mates and insisting they played this CD in the car. I'm raving in the back and they are like "What the fuck is this shit, turn it down!". It's with immense pleasure that DJ's like Sneak and Carter seem to be booking all the massive clubs and parties again. I'm not so keen on the whole 'I'm a House Gangster' vibe... but this is as bad as it gets.
