John Monkman stands at the forefront of the global electronic music scene. His dynamic performances and cutting-edge studio productions have earned him a reputation as both a live music pioneer and a master of sound design. Monkman’s work spans across some of the most prestigious labels in electronic music, including Kompakt, Ellum, Beesemyer Music, Siamese, and Anjunadeep. He delivered the mesmerizing track Siren for Kompakt, and collaborated with Pete Tong on Ecstasis for Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio. 

His releases like the Komplex EP on Anjunadeep and the versatile Tune In Turn On EP for Ellum highlight his diverse range. John has achieved two Beatport number ones with his remix of Solomon Grey's Twilight and his single Don’t Have to Be Beautiful, further cementing his influence in the global electronic music scene. Monkman’s remix portfolio is equally impressive. His remix of U Love for Sasha’s LNOE 100th release, which received strong support from Patrice Bäumel and Sasha, showcases his creative versatility. His remix of Space Date by Adam Beyer and Green Velvet for Drumcode underscores the respect he commands in the industry. He has also been remixed by Moby. ARTBAT's game-changing UPPERGROUND label is coming to London's Drumsheds on Friday, November 22nd for an unmissable showcase.

All three rooms will be open for an exclusive deep dive into the vital label's sound with ARTBAT playing a headline set and support from Stephan Bodzin b2b Massano, Miss Monique, Joris Voorn, Layla Benitez, KAS:ST, Shall Ocin, Patrice Bäumel and many more.

Shall Ocin is a distinguished artist renowned for his innovative approach to electronic music. With a distinct sonic signature, he's always taking his music to new and unexplored levels, with heavy use of modular synths, analog rhythm boxes and custom made effects. His performances are a mesmerizing blend of cutting-edge soundscapes and infectious beats, creating an unforgettable experience for every listener.

Shall Ocin's impressive discography includes releases on esteemed labels such as Ellum, Clash Lion, Upperground, Hotflush, Truesoul, Bpitch Control, Last Night on Earth, Hot Creations and Systematic, and remixes for Maceo Plex and Stephan Bodzin, among others .

UPPERGROUND has changed the melodic dance music landscape immeasurably since launching in 2021. John Monkman makes his debut on Noir Music and this guy has been on my radar for quite some time now due to releases on Kompakt, Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical. I got the Trusting Source track about 6 months ago and basically signed it after one listen. Since then both John and I have been road- testing, talking about the track and John has been adjusting the track to dancefloor perfection. In the process of it all I suggested John that he made a 2-tracker instead of a single release of Trusting Source. He knocked me off my feet with first listen of Lacquer which is another genius piece of music from the London-based producer.Both tracks are super groovy. Trusting Souce being the classic and timeless effort and Lacquer the more experimental and forward thinking piece.Hit play and check out this fantastic double a-side release.
