Selektress Lafs was born and grown in San Diego, California as Annette Guerrero, a proud mother of 8 beautiful children.
Lafs originated in 1995, she was given this name because “You’re always laughing”.
While living in Skyline she had a neighbor who always bumped a specific kind of music and she just had to know what it was so she took it upon herself to ask.
Boom, Reggae!!! She became a huge Reggae fan.
Lafs struggled as a youth with family issues, started acting out, but never did any of that take her lafs away, she became a tagger and then “Lady” was added to “Lafs” because she wanted quote on quote “mother fuckers to know Lafs is a girl”.
She fell in love with reggae and tagging, that she swears she spoke into existence a Tagging Crew because she would always say it would be dope if there was a rasta tagging crew.
One day she was on the trolley where she saw a big ass piece that said “Tagging Rasta Colors”.
“I gotta meet them” she said… in which they already knew about Lady Lafs.
She became the first and only woman of the tagging crew TRC, hitting up everywhere and anywhere, still loving her roots and noticed not a woman in sight Djing reggae music. 2012 Lady Lafs became a Reggae Dj as she goes by Selektress Lafs along her crew TRC where she has opened for major artists such as: Michael Palmer, Triston Palma, Sister Nancy, Purpleman, Al Campbell, J Irie, and Winston Hussey to name a few.
Dj Lady Lafs or as some may call her Selektress Lafs has been holding up residency at Hannegan’s House Beer & Creamery in National City every third Saturday of the month for a year and a half this 16th of March and you can follow her on ig @selektresslafs.trc
