A track about a medieval like gathering to celebrate-discuss the couple's introductories, their arranged Royal Affair! The setting in my head, a high society pre-official-celebration event that takes place in the grand castle hall where the noble guests of honour attend the glamorous occasion fit for the chosen King and Queen yet to be!  They can say no if they wish so keep your fingers crossed for good luck as the families & related ties meet & greet highlighting the desirable qualities of each! The serious tone discussions linger about until progress is made, a final decision awaiting. So let us now politely curtsey, bow, fan, smile, hold the stance-stare-glare fixated! More trumpets now please! We so need the hype-vibe pumped up to make this vital connection go green! 

Keeping up with the obligatory motions is the name of this game...mode of course, diamonds and pearls, ornate embroidered design style...divine perfection creatures of the flirting-fine kind...good looks adorned in eye catching draping ruffling-puffing satins and velvety masculine jacket-suit-tail attire, embellished with piercing heavy metallics...to go on to say that all of this razzle-dazzle extraviganza to be accompanied with rustic wine goblets & rich colourful dine, circular dance activity, snotty chit-chat whispers and back stabbing schemes, the music picture mood of an ancient world what I'm trying to convey in a modern poppy way...not sure if I did exactly that or not...using just an Arturia Micro Brute Synth to sound something like an Indian Wooden Acoustic Harmonium or a Bag-Pipe was the challenge fun for me...to rather use, soley the synth and not my harmonium or *Bag-Pipe which I don't even play or own...to try and get the essence medieval feel somehow to shine through...Hmn, maybe yes? Maybe no? Not sure? Ponder over that notion...Hope you will enjoy this perhaps exciting number, REKHA XOXOXO

September Twenty-Fifth

2nd quarter of the album and titled for Ellesmere Island (see my map), it describes the hard final stage of the expedition to the 'Arctica Point', and first effects felt when getting closer, for example odd rhythms ;)

I think this track started 2 years ago. I remember talking about the vision with Jamie on the phone and then Jamie sent me a bunch of stems to choose from. I chose the standing bass and recorded my verse with a 90’s vibe in mind. I sent the track over to Russell to add some guitars, he sent that funk rock intro and riff back, and then I don’t know what happened after that? A bunch of other songs got made and the vision for this track expanded to include cutting my second verse and bringing Jon Lock in on vocals. Then the song sat again. Jon and I even started and completed And So You Say and Training Day after we had already got this song started. Since this track was visioned to be part of the first song on the set with Training Day, eventually it had to be completed. Wou-Wou then join in with his synths, rhythm guitar over Jon’s part, and some additional guitar over the first section. This gave the track the final fire it needed and Russell mixed and mastered it like a champ!

As always, massive thanks to Wou-Wou and Russell who have been regular collaborators on so many projects, on SoundCloud, Facebook, and Bandcamp. Wou and Russell will always be the core of my musical team. Thanks for being great friends! 
Big thanks also to Jon, who I have worked with on 3 songs now, with 2 more in the works already! 
And thanks to Jamie for all his patience, support, and for the completion of our second project together!

I'm a singer-songwriter from Durban, South Africa. Having being raised in the church I was advantaged with a ready-made audience. Their kindness, patience and ecouragement gave me the confidence to improve my songwriting and to take it quite seriously. At times when the lyrics had a touch of controversy, they never thought it scandalous, which further encouraged me to write on social issues, love songs, and songs with just a story. 
By my mid-teens I was heavily influenced by the hippy gospel songwriter Larry Norman, which may explain why into my 50's I still have long hair! Through his music I learned that songs do have a greater purpose. 
As a young upstart I was blessed with a kind and forgiving congregation. Today I'm blessed with a very tolerant family and a bunch of great friends. I love what I do!
