I've always enjoyed reaching into different corners of the human dynamic when thinking of something to write about. The more I wrote, the more I noticed the common thread of love that ran through many of my songs, not neccessarily a bad thing right? With this one, I wanted to turn things around a bit and approach the not so sunny side of monogomy. I get mixed reactions(especially from women) with this one due to it's uncomfortable subject matter.

Mia Bella

I cut my teeth on the blues of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee and to this day, I can still hear a little of them in my stuff unrelated to blues at all. That said, I"d always wanted to do a 'propper' recording of blues (a project long overdue) with friends and family and bring the feel of this extrordinay artform to my collection of recorded songs. I sang this one while fighting a nasty cold knowing my normal singing voice would have been waaay too soft for such a spill yer guts song. Manny's harp on this one really punctuates the beauty of this tune.

Walking My Blues Away (feat. Manny Rodriguez)

Mark Knopfler is in my opiion, a vastly underrated guitarist/ songwriter. When the late great Jeff Healey recorded this song in '91 I was immediately reminded of just how much I'd admired Mr. K. Jeff's work on that track was effortless and while I tried to emulate what it was he was doing, I also wanted to incorporate my own flavor as well. I hope I did their song justice.

I Think I Love You Too Much

My attempt at composing a swing jazz number. It was recorded in a bathroom on a cold night in Chillicothe,Ohio. I'm not always totally comfortable with my bass playing, but this one has a nice little 'walk'. I stuck with the working title of, 'Grits and Champagne' because I thought it had a quirky name. Go figure!

This is a cover of a tune I remember from way back. I've always had a healthy appetite for all things blues, and this one, sung and played by the greats Bobby 'Blue' Bland and B.B. King, has been a longtime favorite of mine. Simple and pure in it's composition and positive lyrical message, I enjoyed covering it and I hope it shows.

I Like To Live The Love

An old cover song that was a part of the early Beatles set list. I had some free time on my hands and thought it would be nice to imortalize my five year old son's voice.We had fun with this nice little rocker.

Another Sonyy Terry & Brownie McGhee cover, though with a harder edge to it.

The Battle Is Over (But the war goes on)

This song was originally written with lyrics, but I made the unfortunate mistake of writing this one whilst singing in a mock falsetto only to later find that while I liked the melody as it were, it was way out of my vocal register and comfort zone to sing it live or in studio.
