Warren goes over the history of Eddie Van Halen and how his legacy has significantly impacted the music industry. Warren and Jamie Humphries also explain the technicalities behind Eddie’s guitar playing and how unique and different it is.&nbsp; Van Halen had only recently been signed to Warner at the time of Fowly’s review, and the Los Angeles band hadn’t yet released their landmark debut album. But they had created a tremendous following in the Los Angeles area with a massive heavy metal sound emerging from a small three piece band (David Lee Roth fronted the group as a consummate showman, but left the instrumental part to Eddie on guitar, Eddie’s brother Alex on drums and Michael Anthony on bass). By the time the band released their eponymous first album in February of 1978, Van Halen was poised for almost-certain commercial success. But nothing could have prepared audiences for the album’s completely instrumental second track, “Eruption,” in which Eddie groundbreaking guitar playing was showcased, full-force, for the world to see. Van Halen II was recorded in just a few weeks at Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood, using a lot of leftover material from the Van Halen album sessions.

The album introduced "Spanish Fly," Eddie Van Halen’s mind-blowing acoustic guitar piece, proving he could shred on a nylon-string as well as an electric.

"Dance the Night Away" became Van Halen’s first Top 20 hit, showing their growing mainstream appeal.

Michael Anthony’s bass sound and harmonies really shine on this album, helping define the Van Halen sound.

Van Halen II is the second studio album by American rock band Van Halen. Released by Warner Bros Records on March 23, 1979, it peaked at number six on the U.S. Billboard 200 and yielded hit singles "Dance the Night Away" and "Beautiful Girls." As of 2004, it's sold almost six million copies in the United States. Critical reaction to the album has been positive, with The Rolling Stone Album Guide praising the "feel-good, party atmosphere" of the songs.

It was an honor to sit down with Brad last week in Las Vegas where they are in the middle of their Deuces are Wild&nbsp;residency at the MGM Park. Brad is what I call the glue of Aerosmith. His Rhythm and Lead playing have been the inspiration of many guitar gods today including Slash of Guns n Roses. Brad also wrote some of the great Aerosmith classic like Last Child, Nobody's Fault, Kings and Queens and many many more.
