URGENT AWAKENING

My 30 minute composition from 12/05/2021, with the theme of "space invaders".  These aliens are a little bit groovy I guess.

These 5 songs were my senior project. 

Over the course of this project I learned the limitations of the GBA sound engine. Many of these tracks would need their instrument voicegroups edited and the number of tracks cut down in order to be included in a ROM hack of any kind. As part of my final, I input Track 4 into a ROM of Pokemon FireRed.

More info for nerds: 
The instruments in the Sappy sound engine are split into 2 main categories: Multi (includes multi and direct) and original GBA (square 1, square 2, noise, and drum). You aren't able to have 5 of either type of instrument sounding at any one time, and you can't have more than 8 or so total instruments playing at once.

Space limitations and instrument limitations can be worked around with various patches and changing the number of available output channels. (There are various places you can find this info online)

One of the hardest parts of this project was learning how to orchestrate and add expression using Midi. This project brought me a whole new appreciation for all of the music from the early generations of the Pokemon series.
