His intelligent, biting lyrics are interposed with an infectious blend of roots rock, folk, blues and country that is heavily influenced by his Mississippi Delta upbringing. Blackthorn's music refers to the region with singles that are, according to one reviewer, "poetic, haunting, [and] eerily familiar." 

Blackthorn's third album, "Dry," is scheduled for release in May 2012. This album, following his debut collection, "I Belong Here" (1999) and his sophomore album, "Resurrection by Degrees" (2004), promises to be his most soulful yet. Recorded in Boxmeer, Netherlands with legendary recording artist BJ Baartmans, "Dry" carries echoes of Dylan and Pink Floyd and calls to mind the brilliance of Tarentino's soundtracks.
