🎵 "Sins of Love" – A Nostalgic Journey 🎵

This track is one of my favorites from the Night Lights sessions—deeply personal, even semi-autobiographical. ✨

I approached the production with purposefully raw simplicity, almost defiantly so. I wanted to channel the essence of my earliest days as a teenage producer—that youthful innocence, that unfiltered creativity. The result? A sound that feels both nostalgic and fresh, perfectly capturing the emotions woven into the lyrics.

🌌 Late '90s electro-pop lovers, this one's for you. You’ll hear its influence in the square synths, the spacious mix, the dreamy textures—all coming together in a way that makes me incredibly proud.

Sins of Love

Edith started as an idea that Rob Couse had during one of the Theta sessions in 2016 or 2017.  Like usual, Rob brought me the guitar riffs—but from there, it took on a life of its own. I layered synth saws to give it that late '90s punk feel reminiscent of Weezer and Blink 182, but the persistent distorted guitar is able to cement the song in its larger influences: Van Halen, The Scorpions, Motley Crue, and other giants of '80s metal.

One of my favorite moments is the bridge, where the heavy guitars drop out completely. That gave me the space to pay homage to Doo Wop, pulling straight from "Who Put the Bomp?" by Barry Mann, a song I used to hear on the radio as a kid while riding the school bus.  Modern rock owes so much to the Doo Wop and R&B of the '50s and '60s.  The stacked ooh-wah background vocals and piano glissando then transition seamlessly into a shredding guitar solo, before crashing back into the punk chaos that drives the song.

Lyrically, Edith explores a dynamic that started as a bond built on security and admiration, only to shift into something unexpected, and revealing.  This isn’t just a song—it’s a warning wrapped in distortion, harmonies, and adrenaline.
