My  song is about time and love and contains several definition of what time is....As albert Einstein said..."TIme is an illusion that moves relative to an observer"  He also said that the universe has a speed limit and that is 186,000 Miles per second ...which is the speed of light...

The message in this song is that there is strength in numbers, one voice by itself may not be heard, but a million voices must be heard. One raindrop by itself is lost but when million come together they form the mighty seas. I wanted to get a live feel from this song so i recorded the vocal and the guitar live in 1 take on my Zoom X5 then transferred the WAV file to the DAW where i put in some atmospheric voice synth, some acoustic Bass and some percussion. its one of the longest songs i have recorded as i generally believe that most people won't listen more than 3 minutes but hopefully there is enough in here to keep interest,  i really hope you like it and to help here are the words.

Well i have been promising myself for some time now to have a mid life crises, but i fear i may have left it too late because I'm probably TOO OLD  to have a mid life crises, so instead i wrote a song that to my mind and from Observing my friend who was young enough to  had a midlife crises i think this song encompasses most of the elements associated with a Male Mid life crises, if i have left any out please let me know and i can add them in ...ha ha

We all know its coming, we don't like to think about it. But its one of the only thing that we are guaranteed of in this life. I ask myself this question over and over . What happens when we die. Is there a life after death? Where do we go when we die? a few of my friends have already made the journey and this is for them. If anyone knows the answer please, please let me know . Back in the day when there were albums, this song would have been the last track on the B-side, that most of the band didn’t want on include at all. Poor structure, no obvious genre, not enough repetition, too long, etc, all fair points. Anyway, this is my B-side album filler that gets me kicked out of the band due to 'creative differences'.

Thinking back to a lifetime ago, living in the Bronx, driving on the Major Deegan, hot summer evenings, going nowhere in particular, sketchy air con, Indigo Girls CD on full volume, trying to sing those amazing harmonies.

Blink of an eye and all these years have past. Lots of water under the George Washington Bridge since then.

Burning Fire & Freezing Snow

A post Christmas Lament.
 Another woman died in a Doorway on our busy shopping streets over the Christmas period. She was an Irish woman from Cork in this instance. There are so many homeless people in our city streets, and I observed that almost all the sheltered Shop fronts in the city have people sleeping rough every night. The frost has set in and the nights are bitterly cold and my heart goes out to all those poor people who have to sleep rough. This song is in Memory of the woman who died in Cork , Ireland. May she rest in Peace. 

In my song  “ Cold doorway Bed “ I have created a fictious woman called “ Tana “ who comes from a war torn Eastern European country and who has ended up sleeping rough. Her husband and Children have been killed and she has fled for her life but ends up sleeping in a doorway on Christmas day. I am trying to draw a comparison between the overindulgence that happens over the Christmas period and the plight of Refugees and homeless people in our societies. Christmas should be a Joyous occasion for us all, the birthday of our Savior compared to the death of a homeless person. I want to bring home this Tragedy in full living Colour for us all to see the reality of homelessness for thousands of people in every country across our planet.

Cold Doorway Bed .

She sleeps in a doorway, No crib for her Bed.
No bright light of Silver shone around her head.
She lies in the Cold, the rain, and the Snow. 
All alone in this world she has nowhere to go.

As the bells ring for Christmas, she makes up her bed.
Wet cardboard beneath her, a coat for her head.
As the Cold winter wind cuts her to the bone.
She cries in the nighttime and feels so alone.

As She Cries in the Night,
she prays for a light. 
That will save her and take her back home.
But that light didn’t come.
and she sleeps in the doorway alone.

As she lay in the doorway she drifted away.
She dreamt of her life in a happier day. 
Back When she was a mother.
Back when she was a wife.
Back when she had a family.
 back when she had a life.

But this war rages on and it’s taken them all.
Her Husband, her Children.
But she can still hear them Call.
Still sees their faces when she closes her eyes.
She can still feel their kisses and she still hear their cries.

As She Cries in the Night, she prays for a light.
That will save her and take her back home.
But that light never comes, and she sleeps in the doorway alone.

As she lies in the Doorway 
Her Eyes fill with Tears.
She recalls her Loved ones.
It been so many sad years.
Since she’s held them and kissed them.
Since they all went away. 
As she closed her eyes.
She starts to Pray.

As She Prays in the Night, she prays for a light.

She never woke up, They found her Body next day.
Rigid and cold she blocked the Shop Doorway.
A crowd gathered round to look and to stare. 
The shop wasn’t open that was their only care 
And as the church bells did rang and the Caroler's did sing.
For that poor homeless woman not 1 bell did ring.
Not 1 prayer was said , Not 1 tear was shed.
She died all alone in a cold Doorway Bed.

I wrote this song for my son who went to Australia a while back. Before he went we went camping and surfing over to the west of Ireland to the Maharees, beautiful place. We camped in the dunes, lit a camp fire, cooked burgers, drank beer and later we lay on our backs watching the stars. The sun when it sets in the West of Ireland is Golden as it sinks into the sea. I am comparing the Golden Sun to my Golden son.

I went into the church the other day and i knelt down at the back of Church and began to pray to God to help me with a few problems that were out of my control, i prayed for the strength to except the things i cannot change, to change the things i can and for the wisdom to known the difference. I prayed for my Children for happiness for them and their children and for forgiveness for all those who need it. I also prayed for the Lord to shine his light on all the dark places in the world that are at War, for peace and help for all the starving people in  the world. I hope he was listening. 
As i prayed this song came to me, its not a very serious song but i think it has a great soul. :-)
