Johnny Walker Black, aka JW Black, is an independent hip hop lyricist born in Washington, DC. He has lived throughout the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and has been writing and performing hip hop since 1999, incorporating strong messages, slick rhymes, and a work ethic to producing great music that shows in each verse.

In 2012, his love of the DMV and our people led him to create WDC, a community organization with ties to numerous churches, group homes, homeless shelters and several DMV urban housing organizations. He built strong relationships through open dialogue with the local Community, corporate vendors, and state public assistance programs to sponsor Annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebrations where home-cooked meals, groceries, clothes and gifts were provided for those less-fortunate. These events drew upwards of 100 men, women and children from the Community.

That love and respect for his Community means that JW Black doesn't curse, encourage violence, or disrespect women in any of his lyrics. He doesn’t need to to make a hot song.  His skill, imagination, delivery and diverse lyrical content means that he can flow over any beat, freestyle off the top of his head, and bring energy to any beat he hears. 

A talented producer, and engineer as well, Johnny lives by the motto: "Grind Obscene."
