John Paul O.T.E. is the pope of Catholic rap. His mission is to promote Catholic rap music as a genre further than its ever been. As a Christian rap artist, he is heavily influenced by the ancient faith and teachings of Catholicism, which has had deep roots in Africa since the its early onset. His artist name draws inspiration from two places: the late, great, and world renown pope, John Paul II, and his love for the reception of holy communion, referred to as the Eucharist in Catholic circles. In fact, the O.T.E. in his artist name is an acronym for “Of The Eucharist.” Even though Catholic/Christian rap is his main genre, he also considers himself a Conscious rapper, often yelling bloody murder against all the innocent lives of brown people lost due to the horrors of institutionalized racism. John Paul O.T.E. raps under the auspices of two other personas: Twistazzio, who came to life during his years as a Brick City youth in Newark, New Jersey, and ChasadYah, who came to being during his time practicing a form of Messianic Christianity.

John Paul O.T.E. has been a rapper for over 30 years and wrote his first verse at the age of 12. As a teen and young adult, he enjoyed doing local shows and free-styling on the city streets of Newark. He’s been an underground rap artist since the early 2000’s, releasing music to a small community of listeners and his church family. John Paul O.T.E. is now determined to gain more mainstream recognition during this digital age. John Paul O.T.E. began his record label, Sacred Heart Melody, at the age of 33, inspired by the age at which Jesus Christ began his ministry. His first solo release, streaming on all major platforms, was Praise Through The Struggle in 2022. He often collaborates with rapper/producer Maxamill and rap artist Baruchyah, who, as a trio, are known as the 21st Century Saints. 

John Paul O.T.E. is currently working on his his debut solo album Divine Mercy, and will be a featured artist on Maxamill’s Boycott Sal’s, both scheduled for a 2023 release.
