Signals Aligned is Lord Of The Isles’s fifth album and second contribution to his own Dusk Delay imprint.
Signals Aligned stands as a sonic testament to the intersection of science, spirituality, and the vast unknown. Inspired by pioneering theories on the nature of anomalous phenomena, viewing them not as extraterrestrial but as a complex, multidimensional enigma.
There’s a consistent theme of “discovery through distortion.” Truth is often obscured by layers of misinformation, disinformation, and misperception. The music plays with the concept of clarity and distortion, revealing hidden textures beneath shifting layers of sound.
The sound palette is vast and ethereal, incorporating elements of noise, shimmering synths, and organic textures. There’s a sense of both wonder and unease that mirrors theories on the strange and unexplainable.

The A-side opens with the title track: spacious arpeggios and dreamy textures create a soundscape that invites you to get lost in the music, a tribute to the carefree spirit of the ’90s. "Techla" follows with a more minimal, introspective vibe. Its hypnotic bassline feels like a journey into the unknown.

The B-side starts with "Somo", a bright and catchy track full of sunny melodies and feel-good energy, evoking Italo disco moods. Finally, "Flusso Libero" closes the EP with elegance and depth. Inspired by Donna Hayward, the enigmatic character from Twin Peaks, Acid Youth’s new track drifts into a suspended, dreamlike dimension.
A synthesizer drone and a distorted Vox organ intertwine into a single chord that seems to expand through space, while the organ, free in the upper octaves, lets fragmented, unpredictable melodies emerge.
The track’s hypnotic pulse comes not from rhythm but from the enveloping patterns of the TB-303, eventually joined by an arpeggio that opens the door to new resonances. A brief vocal fragment – Donna’s line “Mummy, it’s so strange, I know I should be sad…” – surfaces as a distant echo, amplifying the sense of estrangement and melancholy.
“Donna” is an inner journey inhabiting that fragile space between dream and reality.
