Tree People (excerpt)

Playing Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Wave" in 2006 at a live session with my grandfather Marv Dahlgren at the recently closed Artists' Quarter in St. Paul, MN.
He let me take this tune on my own, which was a thrill (usually when I was on stage we played vibe duets with the band).

I still enjoy listening to this recording despite my fumbling across the head and changes at times. But I like the energy and especially feel humbled as to have been able to play with such jazz veterans, most of whom teach at McNally Smith College of Music in Minneapolis. The rhythm section was an amazing, inspiring support for me and made me feel comfortable enough to take some risks, which always is a good place to start... Thanks guys!
