I’ve been asked by Native Instruments to compose a deep ambient track demonstrating the super flexible sound-engine of FORM. The track was made by using some of FORM’s included sounds as well as by creating some extra sounds such as the super-fat pads, analogue sounding warm chords, sub bass and the heavily modulated synth sound on top. Enjoy! -use your headphones for a better experience ;)

Kiasmos mark their return in 2017 with a new 12” EP titled Blurred — available worldwide on October 6th via Erased Tapes.

Since their 2015 Swept EP, the duo have been performing shows extensively across the world. After writing and recording together in their native Iceland this year, the pair will be bringing a glimpse of light to a particularly gloomy time of year as their light sounds are brighter than ever.

￼“Stimming was one of the reasons we started making four-on-the-floor music and we have been listening to Bonobo since we were young, so it was a great honour that they wanted to contribute remixes for the EP.” — Ólafur Arnalds

￼The EP closes with remixes from British producer Bonobo and German electronic musician Stimming, taking tracks Blurred and Paused into different coloured realms.

The cover art featuring the iconic Kiasmos symbol is by long-time Erased Tapes collaborator Torsten Posselt at FELD.

Jean-Eric Bohdanowicz's official demo for Microrgan is a naked mix, using only sounds from this library.

Soundiron's Microrgan is a vintage 49-key analog synth from the 1950s. Rare and highly sought-after, little is known about the origins of this instrument, though the instrument's classic wooden exterior echoes the popular aesthetics of the 1970s and early 1980s, during which  me the instrument is thought to be produced.

I miss the old days of SoundCloud - the ones where they weren't trying to monetize anything and everything on their platform. As their company has morphed into its varying desperate forms in the last several years, I've decided to part ways from them. When I first signed up for an account in 2008, I loved the free interaction we had together...you as the listener and me as the artist - your feedback was brilliant and shaped me into the composer I am now...but in recent years I've seen SoundCloud try to change their model to compete with the bigger names like Spotify and Apple Music, and that means they want to charge you (and me) to listen. My music is a free gift from God, and I write what I do as a gift to you...to unlock something deep and to take you somewhere new in your journey. I am boycotting where SoundCloud is headed and I hope to see you on other platforms that don't change their DNA every few years...

I've loved the ride, and I love each of you - it's been the greatest joy.

﻿John is a Greek-born composer and sound designer. From his Athens-based studio, he delivers scoring, foley and sound fx services for a great number of local and international clients. John's clientele includes prestigious brands such as Native Instruments, Ableton, UVI, Virgin, Vice Magazine and the BBC. As of 2014, John belongs to the roster of Ninja Tune's publishing house Just Isn't Music, alongside artists like Amon Tobin, Bonobo, Flying Lotus and The Cinematic Orchestra.
