The title song in 2003 of an album I made of original songs.  I sang each one in the style of a different artist.  I had the notion that Johnny Cash's voice would work well on a ghost story.
To make it sound more authentic, I should probably have used more reverb on the voice.

The Night That Suzy Diamond Stole The Show

In 1970, I was Assistant Director of a Greenwich Theatre youth production of 'Indians';  Peter Skellern was Musical Director.  I wrote a song that Peter arranged for the show's small band, led from his piano.  
On the final night of the performance, Peter arrived at the theatre having trapped his thumb in a car door.  Concentrating harder than I've ever done in my life, I deputised on piano.  Following that experience I followed Peter's career with great interest. 
 In 2003, for my album 'New Songs For Old Crooners,' I wrote and sang a song in Peter's early style, with an elaborate Skellern-distinctive arrangement.  The result was 'Make Like It Just Ain't There'. 
I've been persuaded to add it to the list of my recordings on Soundcloud.
