His latest 12", Absinthe, opens with the title track quickly pulling the listener into a theatrical and futuristic thriller where you feel as if you're part of the suspenseful plot. The journey continues with 'Falling', a spacious and groove laden track. Hovering around ten minutes each, the first two tracks of the EP set a remarkably vast and gripping scene. 

The second half of the release is composed of remixes by Jokers of the Scene and http://soundcloud.com/madato. Jokers of the Scene, a Canadian duo, remix the title track 'Absinthe' while Madato lends a remix of 'Falling'. Each of these acts has an unmistakable affinity for surreal and cerebral sounds, which makes them apt additions to Offset's material.

Releasing music from artists like Scott Fraser, Sean Johnston and Mugwump, and with support for the label coming in from tastemakers like Daniel Avery, Astro Lab has a fine reputation for raw and analogue machine music in many different guises. This new compilation is just the same, chock full of jams from established heroes and newer talents alike including People get Real, Eskimo Twins, The Deadstock 33’s and many more. A four track digital sampler of the compilation will also be released featuring tracks from Rework, Clement Mayer and Maxime Iko. The first disc starts with a loveably upbeat disco remix from Pilooski, and from there it’s a spine tingling ride thorough the different moods and gears of disco. No nonsense and gimmick free disco for darkened backrooms, this is the sort of stuff that Andrew Weatherall deals in when helming his much loved A Love From Outa Space parties in London. The Rattler Proxy, a sonic duo from Athens, Greece, release their second single featuring two original songs - ''Company of Wolves'' and ''Death Machine'' - along with two remixes of the latter by Antoni Maiovvi and Jokers Of The Scene. Drawing influences from the likes of Suicide and the dark and synth-heavy soundtrack work of John Carpenter, The Rattler Proxy explore the realm of urban alienation through intense and claustrophobic soundscapes. Often swapping their pulsating electronic crawl, for digital rockabilly-esque freak-outs, theirs is a world of back alleys and gang laden imagery, a rhythmic decent into a hellish, concrete landscape. ''Death Machine'' is a lush electronic bossa ode to serial killer Richard ''The Night Stalker'' Ramirez, while ''Company of Wolves'' is a hyperactive stomper that runs with the pack. Antoni Maiovvi's teutonic reinterpretation of ''Death Machine'' is a brooding hair raiser that will make you look over your shoulder more than once, while the Jokers Of The Scene deliver a dark balearic epic that stretches out to 9 minutes and 53 seconds.
 
''Death Machine'' is issued by Lurid Music. The 12'' is hand-stenciled, hand-stamped and hand-numbered in a limited edition of 300 white & silver spray-painted record sleeves.

Jokers Of The Scene expand minds once again with Killing Jokes, dosing the discotheque with moody, funky new sounds straight out of the Toronto laboratory they call home. Kicking things off with a bang, "Killing Jokes III" sees the duo tweaking the closing notes of their J0T5 EP for ten lysergic minutes of Beat Street worthy drum machine loops, surging acid lines, and the absolutely perfect ammount of slap bass. Planet E's own Psycatron take the song for a deep walk into techno territory, while Ed Banger's resident psych guru Mickey Moonlight cranks up the bongos and introduces haunting vocals (including a laugh track?!? Trust us, it works...) for a Talking Heads-on-nitrous jam session. We're very excited to introduce Franz Kirmann's new project for the label. 

Man of many aliases and many projects, eternal schizophrenic, label manager, Dj, geek and pretty secretive, Franz seems in permanent identity crisis, like some kind of French Woody Allen. 

He first got noticed in 2009 when Laurent Garnier took on to heavily play his first EP "Little Baby Eyes", a delicately crafted piece of dreamy electronica and the subsequent album Random Access Memories, an ambient / cinematic record closer to the world of Warp than the nostalgic disco record recently released by some other French men... 

In permanent need of making music of different kind, Franz has since released more music under his own name but also as Sir Ouakam and as part of duo Piano Interruped. 

2013 sees the man working on yet another project. Hotel International is balearic, nostalgic and dreamy, flirting with New Wave sounds and shoegazing. 
After his remix for Eskimo Twins last December and his edit of Simple Minds' "This Fear Of Gods" released earlier this year, "L'Année Du Dragon" is Hotel International fist original release. 
"I wanted to do something quite pop and cinematic, emotional and uplifting, but also driving at the same time… When I started working on it, I was jamming with a synth and started playing that line that basically sounds like a rip off of Don Henley's Boys Of Summer… In the end I decided to leave it on the track as it gives a nostalgic feel. Already played by Mugwump (who charted it number 1 in their June RA chart), Sean Johnston (Hardway Bros / A Love From Outer Space) or Eskimo Twins, "L'Année Du Dragon" comes with two remixes by Morgan Hammer and Jokers Of The Scene. 

Rising producer and DJ on the French techno scene, Morgan Hammer has recently released with Relish Recordings and Clouded Vision. 
Her remix of "L'Année Du Dragon" boasts everything we like about her… a dark and funked up synth bass, minimal melodies and deranged drones flirting over blasting drums… the boys of summer have left the building. 

The second remix comes courtesy of Canada finest purveyors of dance music, the mighty Jokers Of The Scene. 
Epic doesn't even begin to describe the reinvention of the track under the Jokers expert hands and ears... 
Rising for a good 3 minute before even a kick drum can be heard, this could easily be the soundtrack to Drive 2 (especially if directed by John Carpenter), but things quickly get in gear and the remix takes off to the sky in a cascade of sounds where acid lines intertwine with heavenly pads and cosmic melodies, keeping in with the emotional and romantic tones of the original.

Composed in the confines of a Toronto studio, the expansive sound of End Scene is based on decades of VHS-addled film music, new wave jams, weirdo library records, acid house bangers, selected ambient works, and warehouse jackers. Crafted for modern listening from the analog echoes of cybernetic dreams, End Scene reflects a cohesive vision for the Jokers of the Scene's intensely eclectic sensibility. This is headphone music made to move bodies, at once familiar and confounding fresh.

From the ominous intro, “Umbilical Chords,” through the slow house of “Channels For Success” and the gritty sheen of "Industrial Blonde," this collection builds on the Jokers’ strengths and successes. But the duo, comprised of Linus Booth and Chris Macintyre, defy expectation at every turn; moving from the cavernous percussion of “Home Video Is Wherever I’m With You” to the widescreen ecstasy of “Stoned In Death Valley” and the breakneck pace of “Hunk Of Punk.” The ambient vibes of the Jokers’ 2012 " Lovely Sort of Death" (originally released in two parts by Scion on limited 7” vinyl) close out the album as a digital-only bonus.

Looking to do more than simply get End Scene into stores, Booth and Macintyre recruited Adam Marshall's acclaimed New Kanada imprint and NYC's underground powerhouse Throne Of Blood to create a collaborative label, Throne Of Kanada, to help realize their full vision for End Scene. In addition to the LP, JOTS are releasing a special cassette-only set of “bonus tracks” with LA’s Mount Analog and are working with New York based musician and artist Sean Dack to create the album artwork as well as a series of short films to accompany each track. Keeping with the duo’s notion of “casting” a dream team to realize End Scene, the final mix was completed by Brandon E. Hocura and Mark J. Murray at Polyphasic Studios in Toronto and mastering was done by the likeminded musical iconoclast James Savage, from Glasgow's inimitable Naum Gabo. Everything is immaculately crafted, right down to the titles - plays on words that show that even when they’re doling out dark slabs of drone and heady techno, these are Jokers at heart.
