Jolyon Petch, also known by his moniker Elektrik Disko, is a well-established name in the dance music industry. He has made a significant impact on the scene, and his journey to fame is an inspiration to many aspiring musicians. Petch's journey began in 2021 when he dominated the Australian ARIA club charts with a 13-week run at the #1 spot. This achievement was thanks to hit singles such as "Holding On", "Tell Me Why" under his Elektrik Disko alias, and the massive hit "Dreams".
"Dreams" was an instant hit, and its popularity only continued to grow. The cover of Fleetwood Mac's classic song quickly became viral and was the most played song on Australian radio that year. It beat out competition from some of the biggest international superstars, including Bruno Mars, David Guetta, Justin Bieber, and Kid Laroi, and reached #1 on Shazam in both Australia and New Zealand. The song was a massive success, and it earned Petch a Double Platinum record in Australia and a Platinum record in New Zealand, as well as over 31 million streams on Spotify and 5 million streams on Apple Music.
The success of "Dreams" did not go unnoticed, and Petch was nominated for several awards, including Best Dance Single at the ARIA awards 2021 and Best NZ Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. He was also named ARIA's 2021 Best Club Tune, an accolade that solidified his place in the dance music scene.
Petch's success continued into 2022, when "Dreams" earned him another ARIA nomination, this time for Song of the Year. He also released a new single, "I Just Want Your Touch," with pop singer-songwriter Starley, which became his first #1 on the UK club charts and spent 5 weeks at #1 on the ARIA club charts. Petch embarked on a tour of Australia and New Zealand, playing to thousands of fans at events such as the Australian Beer Festival and club shows around the nation.
Petch's journey in the dance music industry began many years before his rise to fame. He started his own record label, Club Luxury, in 2006 and has since toured the world, performing in over 15 countries and 20 cities. He has held DJ residencies at some of the top venues on the Gold Coast and in Melbourne and is the first and only New Zealand dance music producer to have ten #1 singles on the Australian ARIA club charts and multiple top 5 positions on the UK Upfront Club charts.
