Your Master's Voice Records is releasing a series of singles from their new Japanese signee duo: Yui & Aio.

Originally from opposite ends of Japan, Yui & Aio met whilst both studying in Paris. The pair bonded at a local underground hip hop night over vintage 90s rap, vaporwave, warp electronica,  and the arty, leftfield anime of their homeland. 
Vowing to keep their friendship going after their respective stints in Paris - Yui moved to London whilst Aio returned to Tokyo – the duo kept in touch by sending beats and lo-fi sketches back and forth. What emerged was the blissful, saccharine-soaked breaks that make up Yui & Aio's distinctive sound.

Their first single "Setsunai" – which translates from the Japanese as 'bittersweet' - showcases the mysterious Japanese duo's nostalgic, wistful, and sometimes dark approach to hip-hop...  lush, warm and comforting; yet cracked and murky, with a storm on the horizon.

Pulsewave is the sublime new single from Japanese lo-fi production duo Yui & Aio on Your Master’s Voice Records. It is their first to feature guest vocalists—Brooklyn-based  @gabenandez, a prolific multi-lingual, multi-instrumentalist (following his acclaimed 2019 album 'Diplomacy' on @pow-recordings), and occasional rapping partner, Noah Chase. 


The track fuses the pair's now trademark dusty, wonky production, which spiders around 'Nandez and Chase's tight, quick fire deliveries. Lyrically the two guest rappers switch from nostalgic childhood video game obsessions to the parallels of drug addiction with dark humour, sniper-like accuracy and killer hooks.


Pulsewave's frantic pace and retro, sci-fi-like aural palpitations perfectly reflect its lyrical imagery—as if Stranger Things crossed paths with New York underground trap via the lo-fi vibes of cLOUDDEAD and Odd Future.

Created at varying hot desk locations in the multimedia tech hubs of Old Street and Hackney,
Dangerwank has submitted his debut album; 'Your Card Has Been Declined’ to Salmon Universe
anonymously.
The vape influencer has cultivated a brand synergy from a love of broken VSTs from the golden
era of Megaupload, MIDI sax, and overpriced modular synthesisers, resulting in a kaleidoscopic
mix of lo-fi electronica, glitch pop and vaporwave.

'Your Card Has Been Declined’ switches from mournful ambient ('The System Has Recovered
From A Serious Error’), disembodied robo-vocals ('Hot Desk Solutions’) to anthemic pop
(‘Unexpected Item In Bagging Area’).

Not knowing whether to laugh or cry at the absurdity of it all, Dangerwank's debut record is the
media solution needed to keep sane during the modern era.
