Earlier this year, Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, released his new album ‘Chiyu’ (治癒). The album gained support from tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1 and Sirius XM and producers including Eelke Kleijn, Nick Warren, Joris Voorn and Hernán Cattáneo. Now, Anjunadeep presents two fresh remixes from label stalwart Jon Gurd and German producer Ulrich Schnauss. 

A highly-respected electronic composer, Ulrich Schnauss marks his Anjunadeep debut with his remix of ‘Shirabe’ (調べ). Incorporating distorted percussion with ambient synths, Schnauss demonstrates his renowned production techniques that have seen him release on Domino and Kompakt, and remix artists including Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and Todd Terje.

Jon Gurd stamps his mark on ‘Inori’ (祈り), blending his signature bold basslines with the intertwining melodies of the original. Gurd’s latest reaffirms why he’s been supported by the likes of Solomun, Stephen Bodzin, Alan Fitzpatrick, Adriatique, Gorgon City, and Shadow Child.

Anjunadeep’s Jon Gurd remixes Pretty Pink’s ‘Let You Go’ (feat. Emina Sonnad).

A respected selector and producer, Jon came through the UK underground in the early 2000s as resident DJ at the legendary Slinky in Bournemouth, warming up for the likes of Mauro Picotto and Paul Van Dyk. His early productions were championed by Paul Woolford, Sasha, Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, and Sander Kleinenberg, and Jon soon found himself travelling the world performing alongside the artists he’d been opening for not long before. 

Jon has collaborated with Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot, and has won support from the likes of Adam Beyer, Solomun, Stephen Bodzin, Adriatique, Gorgon City, and Shadow Child.
He found his way to Anjunadeep in 2020, releasing his latest studio album ‘Lion’ on the label last summer as well as the ‘Spaces EP’ in April 2021.

German producer Pretty Pink first appeared on the label in 2020 with her progressive twist on Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Remember’. She quickly followed up with three singles: ‘Come Back’, ‘Echo’ (feat. Gracie Thunder), and most recently ‘Let You Go’ (feat. Emina Sonnad).

She runs her own label, Wanderlust, as well as Deep Woods: a label, event series and radio show. Pretty Pink recently celebrated the 150th episode of the Deep Woods radio show with a livestream from Regenstein Castle, Germany.

Jon Gurd returns to Anjunadeep with the announcement of his latest album ‘Phoenix’, out on April 8th.

‘Phoenix’ follows the release of Jon’s acclaimed album ‘Lion’, out summer 2020, which reached #3 on the iTunes Dance chart and gained support from tastemaker DJs including Solomun, Stephen Bodzin, Adriatique, Ida Engberg and Shadow Child. Whilst ‘Lion’ explored themes of loss ‘Phoenix’ takes inspiration from themes of rebirth, marking the start of a new chapter.

“Phoenix was written during the UK lockdown last year. When things at home got to a pretty low point I asked myself what is the most empowering thing I can do right now and the answer was to make a new album. I’ve always wanted to make an album called Phoenix. I like the idea of rebirth and coming back stronger after big challenges.”

“A lot of the album is about getting close to the bone of feeling, a lot like Lion was in a way, but this time trying to translate old subconscious memories into feeling. Memories of euphoria when I just started clubbing 20 years ago. The excitement of discovering and dancing to music for the first time. The feeling of connection on the dance floor with people you’ve never met before. The after parties, the whole thing.”

In celebration of the album release, Jon will be playing a headline show at Colours Hoxton, London on the 8th of April, following successful sets at London’s iconic venues Fabric and Printworks. 

‘Phoenix’ is the latest album to be released on Anjunadeep, described by Billboard as “one of dance music’s ultimate tastemaker labels”. The label is known for discovering talents like Lane 8, Dusky, Yotto, and Ben Böhmer.

Anjunadeep welcomes season DJ and producer Jon Gurd to the label with the first single ‘Together’ off of his forthcoming album ‘Lion’. A reputed selector and producer, Jon came through the UK underground in the early 2000’s as a resident DJ at the legendary slinky in Bournemouth. In lead single ‘Together’, a track which he describes as the “lynchpin of the whole album”, Jon demonstrates his intricate production techniques and eclectic musical influences. An evocative track that pairs hefty breaks and an engulfing synth riff, ‘Lion’ is "about the courage that you need to summon for situations where you need to take a leap of faith.” Jon goes on about the track’s contrasting emotions; "maybe you've got to find some positivity in a dark or sad situation, or there's a big change coming and it feels scary. You need to find that Lion inside of you to give you the courage to make the jump."

DJ and producer Jon Gurd releases his ten-track LP ‘Lion’ today on Anjunadeep. The album release comes after four singles, which have seen support from the likes of electronic heavyweights such as Solomun, Stephen Bodzin, Alan Fitzpatrick, Adriatique, Gorgon City, and Shadow Child.

A respected selector and producer, Jon came through the UK underground in the early 2000s as resident DJ at the legendary Slinky in Bournemouth, warming up for the likes of Mauro Picotto and Paul Van Dyk. His early productions were championed by Paul Woolford, Sasha, Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, and Sander Kleinenberg, and Jon soon found himself travelling the world performing alongside the artists he’d been opening for not long before.

His burgeoning DJ career was put on hold in 2010 when Jon went through two life-changing experiences - the suicide of his older brother, and his young son’s diagnosis of severe epilepsy.

“These two events completely changed my motives for making music, and made me wonder if I was to even carry on doing it at all”.

After a hiatus, Jon’s music became faster and darker, described by Resident Advisor as “jet-black techno”. He collaborated with Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot, and won support from the likes of Adam Beyer, Loco Dice, Scuba, Nicole Moudaber, and Pan-Pot. 

Following another break from music, Jon released an EP on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint, which he cites as a transformative milestone, which led him to create ‘Lion’.

“I was extremely fragile, trying to piece my life back together after what you could probably describe as a complete nervous breakdown, not sure of my sound or what I was trying to achieve, but was just going with the feeling... Getting that EP signed kind of made me sit up and take notice.

It felt as though a clear path was forming. This led me to make the album Lion, and when I look back on my career in many year’s time maybe releasing Lion on Anjunadeep will be the big milestone, let’s see. It certainly feels as exciting!”

Written in late 2019, and inspired by themes of loss and rebirth, ‘Lion’ is a deeply personal album born out of a tumultuous period that has shaped Jon’s life.

“It felt like a release of emotion when writing it. It’s about exploring the emotions that we go through as humans… the emotions that come and go, our place in the universe, being grateful for being here, spreading love and helping people get through tough times.”

A legend of Bristol’s dance music scene and an Anjunadeep icon, Jody Wisternoff opened 2020 with his spectacular twelve-track LP ‘Nightwhisper’. His first solo album in eight years, ‘Nightwhisper’ has accrued over 3.5 millions streams, and radio support from BBC R1, Kiss Fresh, SiriusXM, Ibiza Global Radio, alongside DJ support from Lane 8, Solomun, Armin Van Buuren, Nick Warren, Dosem, John Digweed, Eelke Kleijn, and Tinlicker.

'Nightwhisper' now receives the remix treatment from a stellar collection of international artists, including the UK’s My Nu Leng, Eli & Fur, DieMantle and Shadow Child, San Francisco’s Spencer Brown, and Russia’s Nikola Melnikov and M.O.S. From the Garage-infused Tom Middleton remix of Nightwhisper, to My Nu Leng's groove laden interpretation of Emochine, ’Nightwhisper (Remixed)’ offers up an eclectic palette of tracks rooted in Wisternoff’s unmistakable UK sound.
