This is the first hour of material I have made using only hardware. I spent three months arranging, editing, producing, recording, and mastering it. It's the first project I've ever finished. It is far from perfect but I learned some things especially during the mastering of the track. Hopefully the next one I can get to sound better.

Guidance is Internal

A little project I did for a very special friend. I only used a DAW to time stretch a couple loops and record and master the track. Everything else I did on my Electribe 2S. I basically wanted to make a track using only the "Tribe". I think it came out pretty good considering I've only really been seriously doing this for a few months.

Dawta Riddim

I wanted to make this using only the Tribe but ended up making a sample with the Volca Keys and threw the Volca Beats on it for some tops near the end of production to add more depth. The bassline and other synths were all the Tribe. I only really imported the hi hat loop as I couldn't get the hats from the Tribe to sound good. I really like this one it's loud and noisy the way I like techno. Bonus points if you get the reference in the title.

Aran

This track took me in a direction i did not intend to travel on my own. Playing with the new Minibrute the first night I had it produced the bassline and the track was built around that. I also used the "Brute" for the arpeggiated synth line. All the drums are samples and loops. I hit a road block trying to make this have a techno flavor and it just wasn't working. I added a congo loop and all of a sudden it started to click and it finished up a not so shabby tune for a beginner I think.

Cry Baby

I made all the synths for this track. That's something I really enjoy doing when I'm in the studio. The "Brute" did the bassline, the Volca Keys did a pulsing pad type line and the haunting bell tones came from the "tribe". I layered up a kick from the Volca beats with a sample from the Electribe and threw a few loops in there to flesh out the rhythm. This is my favorite track so far, lots more to come in the near future.

Walk Off

Trying to expand my library of loops for live mixing I came up with these and I mixed them together to make a "track". I really like the bass the Minibrute can do. Everything is done outside the box except the mastering. There was no automation on this track I was running everything myself. The idea is just keep building loops like these until I have so many that no one session will be the same. I used the Volca Beats, Electribe 2, and the Minibrute 2S on this one.

Hangout

So there is some noise in this one I can't figure out how to get rid of. I'm looking into some plugins to remedy it. Some pops and cracks but not too noticeable. I guess that's the price you pay for having like 8 machines turned on and running. Same formula as of late, Minibrute2 on bassline duty. I used a 909 kick and an 808 kick, a few hihat loops. I made a quick synth stab with a sine wave and some weird modulation. There is reverb plastered all over everything but not so much where it's like...too much reverb. I routed the Volca beats thru the electribe so I could cut out both kickdrums without having both of my hands at either end of my desk. It worked but I think the audio quality may have suffered a touch. The mixdown was done live, filters levels, cuts, ect all done by hand as I recorded it. As always feedback is appreciated. There could possibly one more single released before my next mix drops. But for the most part I'm going to start working on a new live set with versions of all four of these singles included.
