Myself, part I

For the last ~14 months, Jeff and I have been playing jazz duets in front of my house.  We started doing this because everyone was stuck inside, and we thought that the neighborhood could use a bit of a lift.

After recording ~22 songs in 2001-2003, this is the last song I ever recorded before 2014.

It's the musical heir of 'One Free Four', 'Luz', and 'Arp Project'.  The underlying vamp progression is very much the same as One Free Four, the electronic character is derived from Luz, and the individual lead melodies can trace their sensibilities to Arp Project.

When I first uploaded this to Soundcloud (ca. 2015), I was informed that this was a copyright violation.  ...But I knew it couldn't possibly be because I recorded  this in my bedroom in 2004.

However in 2021 I happened to be listening to Whistman's Wood by John Surman, and there's an uncanny resemblance between these two works.
