More new members in the Toy Tonics family: JOEL HOLMES & CODY CURRIE joined the Berlin crew. They will release a couple of EPs. 

You might know Joel Holmes: American jazz pianist and keyboard player who has been member of Roy Hargrove’s legendary Grammy nominated band, but also is part of Carl Craig’s synthesizer ensemble. Joel is living in Berlin now, where he is involved in the new vibrant Neo-Jazz scene. (Yes! Berlin used to be a Techno city, but it’s becoming kind of a Jazz town now!) 
In Berlin Joel throws monthly jam sessions (the Urban Base Jam) where the creme de la creme of Berlin ex-pad jazz musicians meets up. American, Europeans.. Crazy things can happen here. Like when Erykah Badu played Berlin in 2019 and her complete band came to jam at Joel’s session after their gig.

Joel now takes the next step: he teamed up with Cody Currie: 24 year old London born talent, who already made some waves in the house scene. Cody is known as a stylized producer, with a unique recognisable sound. Much of his craft was homed in studying a bachelors in music in London. His most known work by now might be a jazzy reinvention of ‘Devils Shoestring’ with over half a million plays on SC and YT. With his new works Cody is coming away from sampling, Working only with live instrumentation.

Joel & Cody both  live in Berlin now where they met Toy Tonics head honcho Mathias „Kapote“ Modica. And when they met there was a vibe. All three have their roots and jazz music share similar ideas about how dance-music should evolve and could sound in 2020. (In fact Kapote Modica studied jazz piano, too and has been playing in bands before getting into electronic music)

Joel & Cody are working in a great Berlin basement studio, at Cody’s home. Working on a new way of combining jazz-funk with real musicianship, MPC grooves and live instruments to get a new , fresh approach on  dance-music. And there will be a lot coming up in the next years.

Brasilian DJ and producer Rafael Cancian delivers a veritable United Nations of diverse international disco flavor for his first outing on Razor-N-Tape. The A side delivers cheeky horns and gyrating synths with Ç'est La Douceur, followed by a flurry of string stabs and vocal fourishes with theI Italo-tinged Fascino Di Milano. 

On the flip we get a taste of Rafa’s native Brasilian boogie with the stomping Frágil, and the EP winds down with the sensual slow groover Besos Libres. This is a 4-tracker of serious heat representing all four romance languages…perfect for romancing, and dancing!

The Kapote album is out for a couple of months and rarely you could see so much euphoric feedback on Toy Tonics releases. 

From Black Madonna to DJ Artwork, DJ Harvey to Detroit Swindle, Gerd Janson, Busy P to Moodyman and Honey Dijon. The tracks are getting played everywhere. 

So it makes sense to come up with some reworks of the album tracks.

On the 2nd remix EP, Sworn Virgins from DeeWee, Art of Tones and Rahaan made new versions.. and as the “Delirio Italiano” track is getting so much love Kapote made an alternative version. 

But here is a taste of Art of Tones' stellar revision.

Almost two years in the making, Aladdin graces the 13th Hour imprint with his first vinyl offering as the label's first solo release. The  'Boilermaker' EP is packed with raw house flavors, including the infectious ballad 'Victims Of A System' that delivers a chugging bass line, chopped vocal hook and pacey percussion.

The formidable Dirt Crew return with a second outing on the label from South East Londoner Dampé. His 'Garden EP’ is a more machine-led outing than his debut 'Peach Shuffle’, with six expertly crafted cuts aimed squarely at the dance-floor. '727 And Arp Breaks' is as you'd imagine an effectionate nod to two of Dampé's most loved studio tools. The TR-727 and an Arp Odyssey marry dubbed out stabs to some deeply, groovey rolling breaks. However this is not an empty club banger by any means; deftly played jazzy Rhodes keys add more than a touch of soul to the proceedings. Classy stuff.

Salin Records warmly welcomes Diamond to the family, a very
talented, young producer based in Oxford (UK), who found a
place in our heart. When Diamond reached out to us with a raw
demo of "Target Blue" we couldn’t get the melody out of our
heads for days. The track instantly put a smile on our face and
with Alex Wilson's sax lines it spreads an enormous energy
which made us feel as if we were 20 again. Later Diamond
came up with "Pen Burns The Paper" and "You Like Jazz?"
which built an awesome fundament for an artist EP. There
couldn't be a better title than "You Like Jazz? EP" as it reflects
the personality of the producer - Diamond, who has a kind of
obsession with Jazz but at the same time is not too serious
about it. We also welcome our dear friend Tour-Maubourg to
the label. His breakient mix of "Target Blue" is a brilliant
example of where inspiration can lead you if you just let it go.
His talent for creating emotions is outstanding. Daria Salin
adapted the power of Diamonds music in her painting. We are
happy and proud to serve you Salin008 "Diamond - You Like
Jazz? EP", an EP that deserves a special place in your record

Jonny Sriraxa & Luci B's indomitable sonic system, Nostalgia Futura is a project born during the first confinement period in Madrid, Spain, at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis. The overwhelming sensations of physical, social, and emotional detention painted the horizon with a nostalgic hue..."so we felt a certain type of nostalgia for this particular future..." And now, in their sets and performances, Jonny Sriraxa and LuciB aim to transmit the entirety of that accumulated energy through rhythms oriented towards the dance floor--evoking reflection through motion-- and flowing across a variety of genres, histories, and influences that fuse the old, new, and still-evolving.
