@jkriv’s remix of 'Firewalker' channels the original live instrumentation into a bombastic, DJ-friendly workout, while Boston-born/Medellin-based producer @bosqmusic steps up to tackle 'Village Hustle' bringing his unique blend of rhythmic flavours to this melting pot of zesty goodness.

This diverse 12” also boasts the first remix and release by the newly-reunited @black-science-orchestra in 15 years! Original founding members @ashley-beedle and Rob Mello @noears take on 'Culebro' and transform it into a pulsating Afrobeat groover. Bringing the infectious bass to the foreground behind a shuffling rhythm layered with guitar and horn samples, BSO turn out a serious heater of a remix and dub, worthy of their triumphant return!

Deep and punchy drums lay the foundation for partner in crime Nikoss's jazzy chords to flourish. We love the cheeky ATCQ lead line that flows over this track. Lagaffe Tales introduces new BROT series with four electro-tinged cuts from Iceland’s Felix Leifur entitled ‘BROT01’.

Reflecting the harsh nature of Iceland’s unforgiving, barren landscape, Lagaffe Tales push alternative styles of modern dance music with their new BROT catalogue. Lagaffe’s main series includes releases from Icelandic talent like Intr0beatz, Ilo and label boss Jónbjörn, with Lagaffe Tales maintaining its reputation for supporting local artists by inviting Felix Leifur to the imprint. Felix has built a solid reputation for himself following releases on Frits Wentink’s Bobby Donny label and Dirt Crew Recordings with ‘BROT01’ being the first in a trilogy of releases coming in 2019.

‘Brot 1’ kicks things off with resounding electro drums, thick low end and glitchy oscillations before ‘Brot 2’ delivers gloomy synth notes and clattering 909 claps floating around modulating obscurities. Raw percussion balanced with stabbing bass and airy pads take the focus in ‘Brot 3’ until ‘Brot 4 rounds things off with delicate pulsations bouncing delightfully off the polished kicks and wavering melodies keeping you locked in throughout.

Tension building strings and chord patterns construct a world of Euphoria around beefy drums, shuffling hats and a catchy bubbling arp sequence that meanders beautifully through the track. Kenton Slash Demon return to Tartelet Records with Zstring + remixes by Urulu and Kasper Marott + 12’ comes in vintage Tartelet sleeves circa 2009-2010. Limited Edition 400 copies.

It’s been ten years since Kenton Slash Demon landed on Tartelet with their debut EP Khattabi followed by the much-celebrated The Schwarzschild Trilogy singles - Sun, Matter and Daemon all released 2009–2011.

"Ten years have passed since our first release on Tartelet and with this record it feels like we’ve gone full circle. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Zstring marks their return to Tartelet – but it’s also a precursor for things to come within the next year. With talks of a full-length album, the KSD project is now being given the attention it deserves.

Kenton Slash Demon have always had an affinity for uplifting melancholic tunes – and Zstring cements their ability to create just that. The track oozes with dance-floor euphoria, offering up a distorted arpeggio bassline, lush pads and layered melodies, all built around a tight and ever-changing groove. There are clear references to Italo disco, early techno and trance, but it’s hard to pin down the exact style – if that even matters.

On remix duties, man of the moment and label collaborator, Urulu, delivers a fresh take in his signature early 90s style, while local hero and close friend Kasper Marott of Monkeytown fame comes through with an obscure melodic techno workout of the finest sorts.

To further advance the concept of “full circle,” the 12’ comes in vintage Tartelet sleeves circa 2009-2010, salvaged from three different releases – which have been in storage since being produced.

The Truffles EP marks Fouk's third outing on Heist Recordings, which has served as both a launching pad and a laboratory of sorts for the Dutch duo. With each effort on the label, the Utrecht boys have gradually tinkered their sound. While the Kill Frenzy EP may have marked the peak of the label's deep disco lean, With Lasers displayed exploration from the duo into more hardware and synthesizer-showcasing waters. Truffles furthers the experimentation, with Fouk integrating newer, unexpected flavors into their repertoire.The title track, and our premiere for the occasion, sets its foundation on an uptempo percussion sample and vintage drum programming. A tightly arpeggiated acid bass and throwback pads lead the build up to the main action of the track; a big piano riff that helps shift the tune into its higher gear. "Truffles" is certainly a changeup to the duo's normally hi-fi sample/synth blend, though perhaps it shouldn't come as a complete surprise since Heist has a penchant for pushing its roster of artists to pursue new sonic palettes.The remainder of the EP, on the other hand, is more akin to the Fouk of days past; "I'll be down" and "Need my space" falling more closely in line with the duo's playful deep house sound. Perhaps the presence of piano and drum machine motifs tie the EP together in a way, conceptually speaking. To round things out, Hugo LX's remix of "I'll be down" is a chilled jazzy house affair accentuated by a sultry trumpet lead.Truffles is available on 12" vinyl on March 22, and digitally three days later on March 25.

Off The Meds is a Swedish-South African crew based in Stockholm, consisting of producers Adrian Lux, Carli Löf and Måns Glaeser with vocalist Kamohelo Khoaripe. Belter is their first full solo release, arriving on Studio Barnhus 7 months after the band's low-slung, ethio-jazz-influenced hip-house burner Currency Low appeared as one of the standouts of 2018's much-lauded label compilation Studio Barnhus Volym 1.

A relentlessly catchy party starter, Belter combines classic rave elements with cutting edge production techniques and Kamo's pitch-shifted rapid-fire vocals.
Already a key feature in recent sets by the Studio Barnhus posse as well as London top selector Joy O, the latter took it upon himself to remix the track, turning it into an extended broken techno trip, a few shades darker and dubbier than the original.
