Shjva returns to the label less than a year after her brilliant Northern Lights EP saw the light of day.

A much revered producer across the scene,  Shjva consistently brings her deep and groovy style to a multitude of projects. Our ears first pricked up when we were recommended one of her self-released projects on Bandcamp. By the time her debut physical release dropped on Brutż in the winter of 2022, we were quick to join a line of labels hoping to push Shjva's talents.

Moving between Poland and Ukraine, Shjva's rise has occurred against the backdrop of the ongoing illegal invasion of her homeland. Nevertheless, she remains a shining example of the vibrant arts that can emerge from a free Ukraine. Her new track, "Blizzard," is no exception and we couldn't be more honoured to be trusted to share yet another example of Shjva's signature deep, pulsing sound 💙💛

Börft enigma Crinan lays down 3 hours of screwed & deadly warehouse mixes recorded straight to tape between 1994 - 1996 and now issued for the first time, arcing from House and Acid to Techno and back, mixed fast and loose to fully impact bodies in motion. Split into 4 parts over 3 hours, Crinan characterises the sort of dancing gear that got Sweden’s underground scene moving in the mid ‘90s, during the formative stages of a label that would eventually find its own cult status in the years that followed. It’s a strong point of reference for Joachim Nordwall too, who has long been affiliated with the Börft label which issued Crinan’s pair of highly collectable Chi-skooled 12”s in 1998, and also exactly the sort of gear that was fuelling ‘floors from Manchester and Berlin back in the day.  On side A we hear him whip it tough and freaky with Dance Mania percolators and butterfly dancers, before side B loosens up and gets wilder with psychedelic acid and latinate, carnivalesque bangers. Side C sounds like exactly the sort of steely wallbuck tackle and rolling techno that would fuel the Brum lot (Regis & Surgeon et al) whilst side D chains up a fruitier carousel of peak time synths and strings built to drive his fellow Swedes to a frenzy.  Exceptional, screwed party steez from start to finish. - Boomkat.

For Fall / Winter 2020, Junior Executive has worked with legendary Swedish record label, Börft Records, on a collection that features artwork from the labels archive. The collection will be available at junior-executive.com in August 2020 and at selected stores. Börft Records affiliate and Junior Executive friend, Crinan, has recorded a mix with Börft Records gems, to celebrate the partnership.

The mixtape “It’s a Question of Power, isn’t it?” reflects on the various registers through which racial and gendered capitalism come to us. We attempted to interweave a cacophony of voices, silences, whispers, thoughts, laughter and cries that question how gendered and racialized capitalism shape our understanding of contemporary labour conditions. 
 
“It’s a Question of Power, isn’t it?” is a site for speculation and study recorded and conceptualized in collaboration with Em’kal Eyongakpa at Mondoré at Bɔ́ Bɛtɔk Bijlmer.
