Written for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Competition. My attempt to use a Classical guitar to create a song with a Spanish feel, but inspired by “The Dream” statue at Sutton Manor.

Whatever Happened To Good News (with Electric)

Singer songwriter based in North-West England. I take inspiration across a range of genres including blues, folk, jazz, Americana and World music but try to appreciate individual songs at face value without assigning a particular genre. Friends have made comparisons to the likes of Nick Drake, Sting and Jake Thackray among others, and used words like jazzy, chill out and acoustic to describe my original music. I mostly sing my own originals with some cover versions.
Among my musical influences I would also cite the work of Fleetwood Mac, Eva Cassidy, Del Amitri and above all John Martyn. Recently I’ve discovered quite a lot of musicality in the extended family tree which has been a pleasant surprise.

I sing at local open mics, jam sessions and songwriter circles.
