As you may or may not know, I have been living a double life. I have now combined that life with this one. These are all the tracks that I have made and will continue to make in my Johanovich Gutenschreiber guise. These tunes are a lot more darker and more experimental than my main stuff and I hope that you enjoy them! There will be more on the way!!

Johanovich Gutenschreiber Tracks

The first track that I wrote under the Johanovich Gutenschreiber guise and some say the best. This was based around one sample and that is of the lift of the hotel I was staying in where instead of saying Ground Floor it said Zero Floor and it all went off from there!

Zero Floor (Johanovich Gutenschreiber (2012))

The bridging track between my music under my proper name and the Johanovich Gutenschreiber alias. This melds our two styles quite well and I think gives the atmos of steadily getting closer to an area where so much devastation happened and is still uninhabitable.

Closer To Chernobyl (Johanovich Gutenschreiber & Jonathan Goode (2014))

A tune from 2012 where I wanted an old-school type of sad and melancholy track but also with a dancy beat behind it. Old school ad-libbing features as well and makes this a weird kind of crossover-style of track.

Aftermarket (Johanovich Gutenschreiber (2012))

A simple, ambient track that melds together different emotions almost as if a spell is being cast over the listener...

Spell Casting

One big happy, bouncy, catchy tune!

Completely different from the rest of the 'Traversals' project, this one resurrects the catchiness of the songs of the 80s and is very basic and catchy. Definitely an uplifting moment and one that'll be difficult to get out of your head!!

Afterimage

A bouncy, uplifting track that contains elements from an unused track dating way back to 2001! Hope you enjoy! Perfect summer vibe!

Playspace For VMP

This is a track written in the style of progressive rock but with electronic instruments! Everything is played by hand and quantize is only used sparingly!! Plenty of unorthodox time signatures and weird and wonderful key and time changes as well as quick and unexpected changes of style. This track is inspired by the prog rock epic 'Tarkus' by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I am very proud of this one and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did making it!

Progressive Arc

This album is meant to be listened to in its entirety as, in the true spirit of late 70s progressive rock, different musical ideas will weave in and out of each other and the tracks will only make sense if they are listened to in order and you may miss something you like if you fast forward as sometimes these ideas will cycle very quickly!!

This album is based around the styles and ideas of the progressive rock era of the 70s but with a modern twist. This also uses synthesizers to replicate 'natural' instruments which further emphasises the idea of the 'band in a box'. Most of the music on here has been hand-played with little programming use. However, the odd bit of quantization may be present when my mistakes needed correcting!

'Tubular Bells II' by Mike Oldfield was incredible source of inspiration for this grand opus and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!!

No guitars were used in the making of this recording!

Traversals (COMPLETE ALBUM)

This is a track that took a long time to complete! A dark and paranoid track with weird sounds fighting against the melody to take control. 

I switched to new software, new synths and new mixing plugins (which I have even spent quite a few weeks trying to sculpt the sound). I've even had a go at mastering this!

I hope you enjoy - it certainly was a battle!!

Everyone Is Suspect

This is my unofficial anthem to Euro 2016 which I usually wouldn't do but given my home nation of Wales has qualified for a first major football tournament in 58 years, this is something quite special!

This tune is quite catchy, upbeat and has a certain sense of nostalgia about it whilst also retaining a slight melancholy. So, just in case we get no further than the first round - it can still be enjoyed afterwards with (hopefully) fond memories!

Une Chanson Galloise

This track came about after an experience where an important person didn't get the outcome they were after and it was felt that an attempt at revenge would be forthcoming.

This track aims to replicate the mixed feelings between joy(at having won), anxiety (waiting for the piece of revenge to take place) and cold calculation (planning a contingency to mitigate against any revenge),

I hope you enjoy!

P.S. This track uses no presets and was mixed and mastered entirely at home using a laptop and headphones.

Expedition (Part 3)

My eldest son had a song done for him so it's only fair that my youngest has one too!! This is a very catchy, uplifting and playful slice of instrumental pop with a hum-a-long melody. It has traces of synthwave and an 80s feel whilst using modern synths and plug-ins. This was all composed, performed, mixed and mastered by myself at home as part of my learning journey into electronic music. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!!

Smile Miles (Single Edit)

This track started off in the hauntology style (à la Concretism) but quickly evolved into something else. This is the lead single of the first part of the wider Psychology suite and is quite catchy in its weird own way. I had a lot of fun making the track (and the sounds that go with it) and I hope you do too.

Psychology III

I'm a bedroom composer more than a producer and I aim to create music with feeling and atmosphere. My inspiration comes from Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield and Kraftwerk as well as many others. I hope you like what you hear!
