Noel And I

I recorded this narration with a choral group for an Easter project. I don't remember the name of the director or the choir, but this was the first time we ran the narration with the music...the happy reaction at the end is because everything synced up beautifully.

Were You There / The Garden

I was never crazy about the "strings" on this track but I wasn't the producer on this project so what are you going to do?

Sara was a real woman who was a great influence on my life. She was bigger than life and I adored her. She took her own life and I wish she hadn't. That being said, it's not a dark, depressing song. I knew her in my childhood and so I wanted to evokes some of those feelings and ideas I associate with childhood.

"Snow White and Rose Red" is a fairy tale written by the Grimm Brothers. I liked the idea that Snow White had this sister with fiery red hair named Rose Red. Sara had red hair and my first introduction to her was through a play her husband wrote; a retelling of  "Snow White." To me Snow White and Rose Red are two sides of the same person - the virtuous, honorable one we try to be, as pure as the fresh fallen snow, and the other one that we usually are - Rose Red. Of course Christ came to wash our scarlet sins whiter than snow so I think the idea works. 

Also, Sara had a rubber chicken that she often wielded as a weapon. It's kind of hard to explain so I'll just say you had to have been there.
