From the start, 'Temple of Light (Commuter Remix)’ provides high energy, electrostatics and hyper-realistic experience in your mind. Analog rhythms, atmospheres (similar sounds you could hear in the 'Duran Duran’ 1st album) and unconventional dance electronics here. Great remix from italo to wave, EBM to electro. French DJ and producer Laurent Paranthoën aka Commuter not a beginner and his works always great. ● We're excited to unveil our latest digital release on the Meta Moto platform. Poladroïd, originating from Belgium, the featured producer is renowned for blending electro and IDM with a fierce energy, notably showcased on labels like Science Cult and his own Roulette Rekordz. However, Poladoïd offers a departure from his usual style with this release, which feels like a spiritual successor to his previous work "Eurosiberie" on Detriti.

Drenched in dense, filtered atmospheres and infused with nostalgic echoes of a bygone era, 'Danse Macabre' exudes a dark and gritty ambiance, straddling the realms of retro-futurism and melancholic machine melodies. Attention please, we’d like to shine a light on the man whose records would come to define many a Numbers party, who once described his music as "for the strippers, for the street”. The original master of Ghetto House, the one and only DJ Deeon.

Hailing from the Southside of Chicago, Deeon started out selling mixtapes in his local neighbourhood and playing at sweatbox house parties. Soon he’d graduate from DJ’ing to production, creating gritty XXX club tracks purely for the moment and the party. The music came from the classic drum machines that provided the spark for Chicago House and Detroit Techno whilst the lyrics and call & response chants were inspired by the parties he frequented.

These tracks - originally released from 1994 onwards via the seminal Dance Mania label, and now remastered from the original DAT tapes for re-release on Numbers - would go on to forge the Ghetto House sound alongside fellow DJ’s: Funk, Jammin' Gerald, Slugo, Paul Johnson & Houz’Mon. What made Deeon’s tracks special was that when he told you to shake it, that’s exactly what you did. 

Deeon continues to produce and DJ to this day. We fulfilled a longstanding ambition by having him play at one of our 10th Anniversary Parties in New York in 2013, and whilst he’s still doing records for Dance Mania we at Numbers wanted to highlight some of the tracks that we love the most. So with the full blessing of Deeon himself, we have compiled our version of a DJ Deeon greatest hits EP.

This record is dedicated to the legacy of DJ Deeon, a man whose music born in Chicago went on to inform many an underground dance scene around the globe, from Glasgow to Rio to South Africa and back. We urge you all to continue buying Deeon's records, to see him DJ wherever possible and to carry on shaking dat ass to the classics.

While the original version is simultaniously being re-released on red 12“ vinyl on Music Man, Ostgut Ton offers three versions of “Aktion Mekanik Theme” – after the original found its way into the DJ sets of the remixers. “I was surprised as – to me – this track was a kind of forgotten one from a limited vinyl compilation.”, Terence continues. “And it was a nice surprise to see that young artists such as Kobosil are into this kind of music, too. Marcel suggested to give this track a new life through remixes. The Kobosil one injects an amazing energy with a great sound, I wish I would have done such a version at that time.”, Fixmer comments.
