Julie, Julie, Julie, what do we say about Julie??! How can we put into words the love we have for this seasoned house music vet, and convey the honor that it is to have her experience in our little corner at the Dusty Booty Ranch?
We’ve crushed on Julie in the Seattle house music scene for many years, and were stoked when she finally decided to join us on playa in 2017. Julie saddled up to the DBR with huge enthusiasm. Eager to explore, and seemingly mere minutes after her first arrival on playa, she rode off on an elevated sunset playa adventure with little more than our address and her cell phone. She and her phone were promptly lost. After hours of thinking “Oh, this street looks familiar, I must be going in the right direction” In BRC, LOL!!!) Julie heard the sweet familiar sounds of Wesley Holmes, which we were keeping on for her like an auditory light, helping her find her way back home.

Redfreya is drawn to melodic, percussive and hypnotic tracks, weaving deep groove lines with emotive vocals, and always seeking to curate an energetic arc in her sets, enchanting the dancefloor into a spell of dreamy, slightly melancholic nostalgia. Her music effuses emotional resonance and depth.

A lifelong music lover, Redfreya began her musical career in classical music as a flautist, singer and pianist, and was initially inspired by minimalist composers such as Philip Glass, Nils Frahm, Yann Tiersen and The Cinematic Orchestra. When she discovered electronic music, this progressed to a broad-spectrum love of all melodic, deep and emotive genres of house and techno - "I don't discriminate by genre but to me, music has to be emotional, danceable and beautiful".  She is a core resident of London's leading melodic music promoter, Parable, as well as the host of the first-ever weekly radio show 'Urban Soundscapes' on Bloop Radio London, one of the capital's most well-respected underground radio stations.

I met the Groovewell boys 10 years ago through, you guessed it, the club. We became fast friends, myself just starting out as a young dj coming up through a sober 6am party called Morning Gloryville. Jake, Chris, Victor and Angel were loyal attendees as we discovered both ourselves and San Francisco, figuring out where we belonged so to speak. Soon enough we started playing parties together and lifting each other up wherever we could. I always exclaimed my proud mamma status as they gained popularity and their sound evolved. 

Skip forward to June 17th where I was featured in their limited block at their own party baby, Kamp Around and Find Out, where I found myself only wanting to make THEM proud and not the other way around.

Love you boys, and love you Never Sleep Again. I certainly kamped around and found out but hope I made you proud.
