RONIN ORDINANCE INTERVIEW:
1. HOW WAS RONIN ORDINANCE BORN?
Ronin Ordinance emerged out the shadows late 2015 but was concepted around 2014 as i was involved with another label and felt the need to branch off to do my own thing, i felt the need to push under the radar artists that deserve alot more attention for what they do, our community is so unique there is so much to be found yet people just stick to what they know most of the time, the deeper you go down the rabbit hole the bigger the reward with drum & bass RO is a clan based label keeping with a steady ethos of ‘’no pidgeon holes’’ with a shelf life quality standard, its been an incredible journey so far.

2. WHO IS BEHIND THIS CONCEPT?
Literally just me in regards to how everything looks, works and sounds. I do have people around me that do help out alot (you guys know who you are) someday i would like to assemble a team of like minded people to maybe do a big project, i think for now it will always be a solo thing.

3. WHAT KIND OF IDEAS OR CONCEPTS ALWAYS ACCOMPANY YOUR LABEL?
I like to keep things simple and straight to the point, no gimmicks no trends, just solid music from a buffet of talent we are lucky enough to work with. I think the main point of what we do is deep dark 170 sounds but i’m a man of exotic flavour so i’m always open to various styles, of course i dont want to stray too far away from what our fans enjoy. Lots of deepness forthcoming the next 2 quarters guys!

4. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT UPCOMING PROJECTS?
Our next release is round the corner and out now exclusively to Beatport for 2 weeks, thats coming in from Sl8r, a producer who has been smashing it all over n someone ive been a fan of since his very earliest work. RNO021 you will be seeing some action from Finland’s best export Out Of Fuel provide us with a 2 part EP I'm really excited to have them join us and the tunes have been received greatly to those ive sent it to so far. RNO022 will be Istota’s first full RO release coming off the back of his amazing contribution to our Genso Vol.1 compilation from early this year, some real techno-esc industrialism on that one. We have releases lined up for the Genso series but you can wait n see on those. All other news be sure to keep up on the RO page for more. As for events and sets, ive nothing coming up so promoters get in touch! I recently went independant with bookings so everything is direct now.

5. WHAT MESSAGES DO YOU WANT TO TRANSMIT WITH THE MUSIC YOU PERFORM?
Good question, thats hard to put into words as its all in the moment, i guess wanting to educate, people that show you new music are always the best kind! It would be lovely to see more involvement in the UK as alot of cities and events are lacking this side of the spectrum.

FastForwardReWind (@ffrw) are a dj duo from Berlin always on the lookout for the most exciting records of our time, yet music history has a dedicated spot in their record box.
The unusual format as a duo consisting of Selecta/Hypeman here mixer/turntablist there, brings the latest tracks of the whole spectrum of sample- and synthesizer-based music to the table in ambitiously mixed and scratched sets.
This results in a variability of speeds, rhythms and moods, which at the same time aims to constantly irritate, unsettle and again whip up the dance crowd.
For the past 5 years, FastForwardReWind have been hosts and artists at EAT the BASS, a space-time that takes place three times a year featuring djs and musicians who are also dedicated to the exploration of several edges of the plate. The highlights of these 5 years were a series of festival performances, including Fusion Festival and Garbicz, which sparked a dance enthusiasm that defies description.
Mike (Mixer/Turntablist) and Reinhold (Selecta/Hypeman) performed in the Berlin nightlife in the past under different pseudonyms and projects. The first nights took place at Acud, Fischladen and at Eimer.
Their mix truly manifests their aims as you can never guess which sonic structures linger past the next transition. From dreamy pads over mutated drum patterns to fat 808s - this set has it all. It draws influence from all over the place and paints quite a wild picture overall but doesn’t fail to show it’s beautiful sides as well.

Jonas Schiefferdecker, simply known as Joney, produces experimental electro music spanning almost all known genres. It will always make you dance, at times like a bopping drum’n’bass fanatic, or like a hopping breakbeat listener, like a trance-y spacecake and then sometimes like an ecstatic teenager. Why is it, that this Hamburg-based producer refuses to decide on one genre and stick to it? The reason for this is part of the message that Joney wants to send out to the (generally message-lacking) world of music. In the same way that cultural debris always creates new cultures, Joney grew up in and grew from the ruins of the dying youth cultures of the 90s. Flashbacks to times before TV-on-Demand and the internet, when the kids hung out in parks and under bridges with cheap sound systems. This retrospective however is neither melancholic nor retro: Joney doesn’t own any vinyl and instead he produces with a computer, a synth and sometimes his drum kit.
Joney’s debut LP “illowhead” was released on vinyl in 2013 and it is re-issued digitally by his new musical home base Audiolith on 28/08/2015. The record was celebrated and highly regarded for it’s experimental, genre-surpassing and brilliant production by both known DJs and relevant magazines. This trend is continued by the new EP “Retrovertigo” which will be released on Audiolith Records on 04/09/2015. The seven tracks were produced over the last 5 years, and have been perfected during numerous live shows in front of diverse audiences to be tracks that enchant and disturb the listener to a similar degree. They are a last resistance against consumerism and marketing trends. Anything goes, but nothing is easy. They pull people in just to alienate them. Perfectly planned ideas, realized in total chaos. Joney himself is just like his music: deadly serious and carefree, happy-go-lucky, reflected and ignorant at the same time. His enigmatic self and his musically fearless and open-minded creations might be what makes him notorious amongst the social circles of the Golden Pudel Club, East the Beat and Ill… However to find the real Joney, one would have to head out after 3am to find him amongst Hamburg’s club scene.
