Today Kiasmos, the duo of Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and Faroese musician Janus Rasmussen, announce details of their long-awaited second album II, set for release on July 5.

Kiasmos are returning, renewed and restored, with II. It’s the triumphant follow-up to their universally acclaimed self-titled debut in 2014, which re-envisioned minimal techno with orchestral flourishes and weightless production. They’d made most of that album in just two weeks; this time it’s been 10 years. The making of II was a test of their friendship, but also testament to how great musical chemistry can always go the distance and be just the same as it ever was. “In the beginning, we hadn’t established any sound, so it was easy to write,” says Janus.

Following the recently dropped EP Flown, today they share new single Burst which Janus describes as being “the moment when the whole album started coming together. A lot of work went into making this track what it is, making it an anchor for the rest of the album.”

Ólafur adds: “when we finally arrived at Burst it felt like a key to the puzzle of what a new Kiasmos could sound like.”

The tracks began as short demos of Kuzmin’s that were then sent back and forth as each producer added new sounds and ideas. The result is an EP that marries Kackley’s melancholy electronica with Kuzmin’s chillout dance style.

Canadian producer/DJ Jares joins Nightcolours with a powerful set of originals supported by remixes from Berni Turletti & Tomas Briski.

Opening proceedings is Darkest Night, based around a cheeky little vocal sample this thumper has all the right amounts of razor sharp synth work, shimmering percs and foreboding vibes. On remix duties is Berni Turletti, a stalwart of the Progressive House scene. Turning up the atmosphere whilst subtly retaining the original vocal and synths, this is progressive workout that’s going to fly.
Next up is Pressure. Edgy melodies and marauding drums make this a peak time stomper whilst on taking their turn on the rework is Nightcolours favourite Tomas Briski. Bringing his trademark dystopian vibes to the original, this is a dark, tunnelling monster.

Premiere | Jares - Pressure (Tomas Briski Remix) [Nightcolours]

“VAI” is a deep-house reinterpretation filled with nostalgia and emotion — a 2025 reimagining of Anda (2018), the track that carried me across continents every time I travelled back to my home country, Portugal.

This new version keeps the soul of the original while pushing it into a modern, atmospheric space: warm pads, subtle grooves, and a sense of introspection that grows with every minute.
The EP also features several remixes, including a powerful one by ROTI, marking his very first remix on Electro Culture Records.

“VAI” is both a return and a departure — a personal journey transformed into music.
