TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ ANANDA

Linchpin of her local scene, Rio de Janeiro’s veritable rave queen, Ananda has found her musical home in the Carioca warehouses and parking lots where she holds fort at her four-year strong queer party, KODE. There, the producer and DJ hosts Brazil’s finest;  at the celebrated techno-oriented events. But Ananda’s impact on Brazilian club music far outstretches the RDJ limits. Indeed, she regularly frequents São Paulo’s revered parties Mamba Negra, ODD and Carlos Capslock; and, she’s even guested at Berlin’s incomparable Pornceptual and Buttons events.As a producer, Ananda’s style is dark and intense, yet never overbearing. Her compositions feel spacious and intricate; delicate layers, tonal curios and startling timbre changes intrigue and tug at the ear, transforming tracks that begin in the four-to-the-floor techno idiom, into something altogether more atmospheric.
In 2021, Ananda in partnership with Amanda Mussi founded MACRO HITS, a label focused on Latin America producers, with a monthly residence at the Lot Radio in NY. 2022 sees here Berghain main floor debut and also shows for HOR and the queer Lisbon party MINA for pride edition.

EPM Podcast 166 comes from Elyas. Currently focussed on his own Seclusion label, Marseille based producer, Damien Lapéna has been releasing on established techno labels such as Modularz, Soma and Symbolism for over a decade. Now he brings his techno DJ skills to the EPM podcast series with floor heat provided by Robert Hood, James Ruskin, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, DJ Bone, Sebastian Kramer, Player, Paul Mac, Floorplan and a couple of his own productions with DJ Sack. 

Damien Lapéna launched his Elyas project on Modularz (LA), with ten vinyl releases that aired between 2012 and 2016. During this period he had the chance to play in prestigious European clubs such as Tresor, Berghain, Corsica Studios and Cassette Club, as well as in New York where he shared the line-up with artists such as: Function, Pfirter, Developer, Grindvik etc. He has now released over 30 vinyl EPs with different projects and collaborated with artists such as Jerome Sydenham, Perc, Dustin Zahn, Orlando Voorn and many more.

More recently Elyas released on Soma records and on Ben Sims’ Symbolism imprint. He also launched his new label Seclusion, currently featuring 16 releases from Detroit artists such as Mark Flash from UR, Hlx1, BlakTony, DJ T-1000 and worldwide artists from the techno scene such as DJ Shufflemaster, DJ Deeon, Samuel L Session and Jeroen Search.

Jon Hussey is hailed as a pioneer of the Irish Techno scene, kick-starting the infamous Planet Dub night in ’94 at Columbia Mills / Waterfront, Dublin. Since then Jon has promoted and resided at many Techno clubs throughout Ireland as well as playing in many Techno havens across Europe including Amsterdam, Bratislava, Berlin, London, Leeds, Exeter, Turin and New York. 

In 1999 Jon was among the first group from Ireland to qualify for the Red Bull Music Academy held in Berlin where he showcased his Irish Techno skills. 

In 2001 he helped electronic music maestro and lecturer Kenneth Harte to setup and establish the first DJ techniques and electronic music production course in the ‘Bray Institute for Further Education’ BIFE which is still to this day the only full time course DJ & Music Technology courses in Ireland. 

A quote from the national Irish radio station 2FM in their Late-Night Sessions Blog stated “Jon Hussey is one of the longest serving true purveyors of Techno in Ireland, running nights in the early days of Dublin's dance scene, when techno to most people meant U96 or 2 Unlimited. Consistently one of the best DJs around, Jon never lets the side down” giving a rare insight into Jon's personality as a DJ! Jon Hussey is now playing Techno for 3 decades and is regarded as one of the longest if not the longest DJ solely playing Techno on the Irish scene. 

Jon Hussey has previously released with fellow Techno DJ Sunil Sharpe as part of a joint project under the moniker 'Tricaustic' with “the Caustophobic Pressure EP” on Komisch records, Jon has also released his productions on RLSD Records, Earwiggle, Ceili tracks, Circuit Structure Records and on the Netherlands based label R3volution Records for the Viktims Vol.1 EP alongside some excellent current producers like Linear System and Mattias Fridell. One of Jons most well received collaboration track Saol Fórsa a title he gave the posthumous work with dear friend Stuey Lyons (RIP) on Deliquent Delivery in ’22 was championed by many industry favourites including Ben Sims, Freddy K and Blasha & Alatt. Jons latest track ‘What if’ has just been released on a new Delinquent Delivery VA and he has also created recent remixes for Dublin band ‘Dumb Posh Hippies’ album track ‘Ego Ripper’ and also for Swiss based producer Maeksll for his ‘Staub 02’ album track have received excellent feedback from the Techno community. 

Further releases are planned for this year on Delinquent Delivery records and new Dublin based record label SCART
